How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

10 months.

What is the student lifestyle like in Manchester?

Basically like everywhere else: studying and partying. However, regarding the partying, there are a lot of house parties here, which is something that I really like because it is not that usual in my country.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Manchester to other students?

Yes. Manchester is a busy city and you always have something to do, or somewhere new to go discover. Manchester is basically a city for students. You see students everywhere and the University is in the middle of one of the most important roads. The University is also great. I've been learning a lot and the teachers are always there for you in case you have any trouble or question.

What is the food like?

Different. I'm not used to the food here and to be honest, I don't like it very much. However English people seem to love it so perhaps it's just a matter of perception.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Manchester?

No, I used a webpage spareroom where you can check out available rooms and choose the one you think fits you the most.

How much does it cost to live in Manchester?

Depends if you're living in a Halls of Residence or a normal house. I live in a normal house and it's not as expensive as I thought it would be. Halls of Residence, however, may be a bit more expensive but it's easier to meet people there.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

It's not difficult. Most of the natives here speak standard English, but even if they have an accent hard to understand they will have no problem in repeating anything you didn't understand.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Manchester from your city?

Bus. Every bus ride is 1 pound (except at night) and there are multiple types of bus passes (5 months, 10 months, weekly, daily).

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Manchester?

There are plenty of places to go out in Manchester at night. Since I like rock music my favourite place is 42nd Street, but if you come here you'll have no problem finding a bar or club that suits you.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Manchester?

I don't eat outside that much, but Nando's is good.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Not many that I know of. There are a couple of museums and some beautiful buildings such as the Town Hall and the John Rylands library. However, Bonfire night in Plattfields and the Christmas lights switch-on in the Town Hall are awesome.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Manchester in the future?

Bring a jacket and an umbrella. What they say about England is not a lie... It rains nearly everyday!
