What is it like to live in Manchester? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in Manchester is fantastic, the city is full of life and has an all-round great atmosphere.

What is the student lifestyle like in Manchester?

Student life is brilliant, there are three universities and countless colleges so students are everywhere. Many places do discounts and the city is full of very cheap bars. There are tons of clubs to choose from with every style of music you could be looking for, and some are the cheapest clubs around (£1 entry, £2 drinks etc).

How much does it cost to live in Manchester?

I would say it's fairly cheap, rent is normally between £85-100 a week for a decent enough place. There are buses running down the main road every minute that cost as little as £1. 50 for a single journey. Many bars do £2. 50 pints and there's even a bar that does £2 cocktails!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Manchester? Is there any advice you can give?

There are many landlord agencies that specialise in student accommodation. The most common place to live for students is generally south of the unis, mostly in Fallowfield, which is a very good student area.

What places would you recommend visiting in Manchester?

The Manchester Museum right next to the University, the Northern Quarter in the central town that has many independent shops, coffee shops, bars and clubs.

Is the nightlife good in Manchester? Where is good to go?

Nightlife is fantastic, there are so many clubs to choose from. For a more formal/dressy night there are clubs such as Ark or Revolution in Deansgate Locks, or the most popular student clubs include Fifth (known for being very cheap), Factory (3 floors of different music), 42nd Street (indie music), as well as the Gay Village with many clubs there. For drum and bass Antwerp Mansion or Koh Tao are good spots.
