What is it like to live in Manchester? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Manchester is a good place to live when you are a student because it there is so much nightlife and things to do for young people. If you have a family it's probably not the best place to choose to live and its noisy and house prices are more expensive.

What is the student lifestyle like in Manchester?

Student life in Manchester is amazing! There is literally something to do every second on the night or day. You have the opportunity to meet so many new people who are open and up for a good time. I found some of my best friends during my student life in Manchester. Would definitely recommend it!

How much does it cost to live in Manchester?

To live in Manchester it costs about £300 for a room in a shared house with a garden about a 10minute bus ride from the centre (Picadilly). Student accommodation is also available in the centre for about £120 a week.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Manchester? Is there any advice you can give?

No, Its actually very easy to find accommodation in Manchester. Other students are always looking for flat mates and there are many agencies that work specifically to help students find places to live.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is great. If you love Curry then Manchester's Curry Mile is the place for you. Its basically a mile long stretch full of Indian restaurants. I love it! There are also so many different restaurants in Manchester with food from all over the world. Traditional British pubs are my favourite though - Steak and Ale Pie all the way!

Yep. Nando's, Curry mile and loads of other places. Nando's is my fave!

What advice would you give future students heading to Manchester?

Take warm clothes!

Also join a university club e. g. football, book club, cooking etc because they do weekly meetings out in the town. That way to get to meet new people and make new friends quickly.
