What is it like to live in Lund? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Lund is a very nice city that is very oriented on students and student life. I really enjoyed staying here for the autumn semester and I'm thinking of doing my PhD studies here. The nature is beautiful, city has many parks and you can fully enjoy them while riding a bicycle - which is a must to have in Lund.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lund?

Almost everyday there is some party, so you surely won't get bored. Many students attend so-called sittning (3 course dinner) and they usually have kind of pre-party in one of the dorms or apartments. There are student clubs that offer drinks for student prices, but you have to be a member of Student Lund and then choose a nation you would like to be a part of.

How much does it cost to live in Lund?

Prices are pretty high and living costs are expensive. Do not rely on the fact you can find a part-time job here, because it is very hard even for the Swedish students. The most expensive is rent and buying an alcohol (which you can buy only in special shops). You can find good food for reasonable prices for example in supermarkets such as Lidl, City Gross or Willy's.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Lund? Is there any advice you can give?

I think that when students apply for the accommodation, they usually get one. There are still students that are renting out their room, so I haven't met anyone with this problem.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Eating habits are based on healthy food with lots of vegetables. Goods in stores are of very good quality. Fish and seafood is popular as well.

What places would you recommend visiting in Lund?

Botanic Garden is very nice, Lund Cathedral and the Old Town is charming.

Is it good to eat out in Lund? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Eating out could be expensive for students but in general there are good restaurants at the Stortorget or Lillafiskaregatan. Students usually eat lunch they bring to school by their own (you can heat it up) or in the school cafeteria which has lunch menus for very good prices.

Is the nightlife good in Lund? Where is good to go?

Nation's clubs are places where students go and have fun. Each nation offers different kind of music, so you can choose what you like.

What advice would you give future students headed to Lund?

If you gonna spend here the autumn semester bring warm clothes and good shoes. You will ride a bicycle most of the times so a waterproof jacket is very good thing to have. Swedes are very friendly people, not cold at all, but they like to have their own distance and space, you cannot take it personally. Coffee is their favourite drink and even if you don't speak Swedish you won't have a problem because everyone can perfectly speak English.
