What is it like to live in Athens? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Athens is easy if you live close to your work or school. Public transport is not very good (except metro). Rent is low but it's not possible to find places for monthly rent. Minimum is usually one year. What is definately not missing is a lot of party and cheap options for food and fun.

What is the student lifestyle like in Athens?

As a student you will have an excellent time. You have a lot of options for party but the most important, great archeological places and museums for the ones who like ancient greek culture and wish to discover more about it.

How much does it cost to live in Athens?

I'd say the most economic option could get to 500€, medium life style around 700€ and with 900€ a student could live really really well!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Athens? Is there any advice you can give?

Difficult to find rooms to rent or apartments per month. Easy to find apartment to rent for more than a year. No specific advice, just explore more options and the most important in athens: everything is still done by the traditional way. Walk on the streets and look for advertissements on the buildings.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is great, eat meat if you like it and legumes are great. Everything in general is well made.

What places would you recommend visiting in Athens?

All typical touristic places, but also for fun, "pasalimani, Kastella, Gkazi"

Is it good to eat out in Athens? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

The most economic otpion in Greece is the souvlaki! In every corner you will find souvlaki spots. Don't pay more that 2.50€ for a pita.

Is the nightlife good in Athens? Where is good to go?

Just great! Try Psiri for traditional entertainement, then Gkazi, and of course check on trip advisor for clubs all around Athens!

What advice would you give future students heading to Athens?

Don't mess with bureaucracy and everything will be just great! Enjoy your time. Students usually have excellent experiences in Athens. You will not regret coming!
