My Erasmus experience in Wroclaw, Poland. By Mariana

Why did you choose Wroclaw, in Poland?

I chose Wroclaw because some motives: is cheap, is located in the centre of Europe and the lessons are taught in English.

How long does the grant last? How much money did you receive for help?

As I went only for a semester, I received money for 4 months.

How is the student ambient in Wroclaw?

The ambient is very nice! It is a city with lots of students, so it was very prepared to welcome us.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Wroclaw to other students?

Of course! I went with high expectations, and still it was a big surprise! Good city, with high quality of life. Go and discover by yourself! It's worthy it!

How about the food of the country?

It is quite different from the portuguese food, the food itself as the habits. We were very shocked at the beginig, but we got used and is very interesting to prove what they have to offer.

Was easy to find accomodation in Wroclaw?

It was very easy because I was in the residence of my University. I recommend to go to a residence! It is a spectacular experience!

About 300 euros per month with all included, except the occasional trips.

How is the language? Did you go to any course at the University?

Polish is very difficult to learn. I attended a course by a little time and learnt the basic words. We had to use the English, and we had no problem!

What is the easiest way to get to Wroclaw from your city?

The flights are always very cheap from Oporto, but there aren't directs flights. My flights had to stop in Paris and in Milan. There is also the possibility to go to Warsaw by plane and then take a bus to Wroclaw.

What places do you suggest to go out at the night in Wroclaw?

The Erasmus parties are the best and for that you can go to Alibi and Reset. If there isn´t any Erasmus party, you always have the choices of the bars in Rinek and discos of Plac Niepolda.

And what for eat in Wroclaw? Could you list your favourite places?

Kurna Chata, Pierogarnia and Pasibus are my favourites.

And Regarding to cultural visits?

The central square (Rinek) is amazing. There are some gardens, big cathedrals and museums to visit

Do you have any advice to the future students of Wroclaw?

Don't hesitate to go to Wraclaw. It is fantastic and you will love it!
