Experience in Wroclaw, Poland, by Karola
What is it like to live in Wroclaw? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
The most student city in Poland. Also the most beautiful, even though not so famous as Cracow. European Capital of Culture 2016. Great to live, great to have fun.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Wroclaw? Is there any advice you can give?
Lot of students + lot of emigrants from Ukraine = very difficult situation to rent a flat even for Polish people.
- Tip 1: every university in town has their own students dormitory: is cheap and easy to sign up for. Ask your Buddy for help. Try to write to the owners in English; majority should know the language.
- Tip 2: don't panic when someone offers shared room with 1 or 2 people. In other countries it may be weird, but in Poland it's normal.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Polish food it's just delicious, based on soups and meat, but also vegetarians will find sth for themself.
Thing that you have to try are: pierogi. Famous on all over Europe. Who tried then knows.
What advice would you give future students heading to Wroclaw?
Liked on Facebook local sites dedicated to culture. There are so much events happen in town, so it will be pity you miss them.
