Why did you choose to go to Wroclaw, Polonia?

I choose to come to Wroclaw because first I wanted a place in Europe well located so I could easily travel. Then, I met a few people in my home University that went to Poland and loved it. So I thought why not? Also, I read that Wroclaw was like a student city. So these are the reasons why I went to Wroclaw.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

The scholarship is for 4 months and I receive 900 euros in total.

What is the student lifestyle like in Wroclaw?

There's always a party somewhere and the Erasmus spirit is pretty evident. Also, there is a ESN Wroclaw here, so they organize parties and it's a great way to make Polish friends because you get to spend a lot of time with them.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Wroclaw to other students?

Yes, I definitely recommend it!

What is the food like?

Actually, some people (before I came here) told me that Polish food wasn't good, very different form what I am used to. But I have totally different opinion. I love Polish food. Maybe it's a little bit "heavy" because they eat a lot of pork and potatoes and not much fish. But the traditional food is very good. I am in love with "pierogi" (dumplings). I don't know how it is in summer but for during the winter time it is a perfect solution.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Wroclaw?

A lot. I had a really hard time finding a place. Mainly because before I came here I didn't want to stay in a dormitory, so I kept thinking that I should look for apartments. My advice is for everyone to stay in private dormitories with about 8 to 12 people. First of all, because you will never be alone and it's a lot of fun. At first, I didn't want to stay in a double room, but now if I could change it, I would have looked for this kind of place and have a roommate. I'm saying this because I'm friends with people that are staying there and I kinda envy them!

How much does it cost to live in Wroclaw?

Comparing to Portugal, supermarkets and restaurants are cheaper! Renting a room is pretty much the same. In global, I don't think it differs that much from Portugal.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is very difficult to learn. There are indeed courses available at the university but it's not enough to leave Poland knowing the language. Although, I recommend attending it.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Wroclaw from your city?

The easiest way is by plane of course. But it's expensive. Try to book the trip as soon as you can. There is also the possibility to go to another city (a cheaper one) and then, from there, to Wroclaw by PolskiBus. It's cheaper this way.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Wroclaw?

Most of the clubs are located in Pasaz Niepolda. There are clubs like Mundo, Lavos, where everybody goes. Then, in another place there are Alibi and Reset. In Alibi every Monday there is an Erasmus party. So as you can imagine, everyone from Erasmus is there on Monday.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Wroclaw?

Uhh, Pierogarnia, I'm in love with this place! Pierogarnia is a restaurant that serves traditional Polish food and you can eat there for like 25 zl, which means more or less 6 euro.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The University of Wroclaw, Rynek (which is the Old Part of Wroclaw and it's beautiful, with a lot of churches to visit), the Cathedral, Skytower.
