Erasmus Experience in Wroclaw, Poland by David

Why did you choose to go to Wroclaw, Poland?

Because it's a cheaper country than Spain and I had friends who had been there before. I then realised that it's a beautiful city and it's full of opportunities for work as well as for studying and companies there are becoming more and more influential, all of these factors motivated me to go there.

Would you recommend the city and the university of Wroclaw to other students?

Yes I would, it's a beautiful place and it's well worth coming here.

What is the food like there?

It's not bad, but I prefer Spanish food. Here, they mostly have different types of sausages, some really nice soups, pierogi are really good and other such things. They have fish, like trout, salmon (my favourite), some sea bream and frozen fish. They have a lot of meat, too, including chicken and veal.

And to eat in Wroclaw? What are some of your favourite places to go?

Kurna chata is really good for nice soup inside a big loaf of bread. Pierogarnia is good for trying the traditional food in Wroclaw: pierogi. There are lots of pizzerias and kebab shops, too.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There's a really good route for seeing all of the monuments and museums, but it's better to go with someone who know it already. Rynek is the historic centre of the city and it's full of life. The city is full of dwarves, they're a tradition there.
