Where to go out for dinner in Valladolid II

Let's continue with the restaurants in Valladolid, going up in quality and in price.

Niza

The restaurant Nizza is one that I liked the most in Valladolid. It might not be the most luxurious, and by no means do they make the most original food, but it is a restaurant that I always left feeling satisfied. Nizza is located in Padilla 10, very close to the burger restaurant Brook Steakburger. I think it is a humble place to go out for dinner as a couple and of course with friends.

It is not a very big place, with a lot of tables but well laid out. Both times that I have been there I have been upstairs but that doesn't stop the waiters from being late to serve you and they take care of you with whatever you ask for. Nizza doesn't have a very striking décor but it does try to honour the country that it is named after.

The menu is full of French dishes, pizza, pasta and salad. One of the times I was there with one other person for dinner and we asked for a salad (which were quite large), a pasta dish with meat and a quiche Lorraine which is a kind of savoury tart. All of this was to share and we both ended up full, to say the least. The second time we decided to order a pizza for 2 and then a savoury crepe to share, seeing that the last time we ended up too full. All of this was great, as I said the service upstairs is very fast and one of the waiters there is always very nice and attentive with customers. I recommend it, ill tell you there is going to be a lot of food...

To dine in Niza it is best to book a table before you go, especially on Saturdays and the day before holidays as there will be a lot of people, but if you call the same evening you are sure to get a table. At the entrance they also have a coat rack and a small room to wait without stress, although I am more like "let's go later".

For 2 people to go out for dinner in Niza, it costs around 35-40 euros, but you eat very well in both quality and the amount of food. The price mentioned includes drinks, coffee and dessert of course, so try for yourselves. Another thing to know about Niza, is that every time you go, they give you a discount of 2 euros per person for meals that are over 20 euros, so if you have 2 people, the next time you go you could have a 4 euro discount which isn't bad at all. The bad thing is that they expire over time (I think 1 or 2 months) and if you want to make the most of them you have to go back to eat there. In regards to the mark that I think they deserve, in relation to value for money I would say 4/5 and the only reason I wouldn't give it 5/5 is because some of the dishes are a little more intricate than they need to be. And if I had to give the restaurant a mark overall, it would be 8/10. Without a doubt a great restaurant.

Le Bistró

This restaurant, also French named, is a few steps from Fuente Dorada, in the street Teresa Gil. It is a typical restaurant for couples and I think that in terms of price it is better than Eh viola and the restaurant Niza that I have just spoke about. I have only been once and there were some problems but I still think it is a great place to eat. Again it is better to call and book a table before you go to see if it is full. The place is not very big and the tables are laid out very close to each other. In regards to décor, it seems the most appropriate and it has a different touch.

The menu has a little bit of everything, from gourmet dishes to ones you could make at home. But in general the level of cooking is quite good. The portion sizes are very big so if you order for 3 to share you will definitely leave full, although there is always room for dessert. I remember I ordered a couple of scrambled eggs which were all made in a different way and a savoury tart that I cant remember the name of. The desert was very good too, I had a cheesecake with jam on top. The price, as I aid is a little bit more expensive than the places I've mentioned before, around 40-45 euros for 2 people including drinks and coffee, and dessert of course depends on what you order. Also, I think that the little space between tables makes it take longer to be served. (There were a lot of people and coincidentally a lot of work). Apart from that it is a good place to go.

In terms of value for money, I would give it a 3/5 because compared to Niza, Niza wins. And for the restaurant overall I would give it a 7/10. Even thought these arnt very high marks, I think it is worth going there.

Suite 22

Suite 22 has went almost unknown by the people of Valladolid for being one of the most visited and where people always leave happy. Firstly, I think that the premises is very ___ but very good, like an old stone wine vault. It is in the street Fray Luis de León 22, near the Plaza Santa Cruz. Even though the place itself grabs your attention at first sight, it has a lot of other things going for it. The service is fast and efficient with very professional waiters that don't hesitate to advise you if you ask them. They also have a wide food and wine menu so there is a lot to chose from. Everything, and I mean everything, that I have eaten there has tasted great! I remember I had a risotto with octopus that just melted in your mouth. They also have some Japanese dishes like sushi and a lot of innovative offers.

So you eat well, but now let's talk about price. It is a lot more expensive than those that I have mentioned before, but like I have told you, the price of the restaurants is going to increase in the order that I tell them. Suite 22 can be placed in the band of expensive restaurants, without being the most expensive. Dinner for 2 can put you out 50-60 euros, including coffee, drinks and dessert. But you already know that this all depends on what you order. What's good about Suite 22 is that on special occasions like Valentines day, Christmas, Carnivals... they always have a special menu for 25 euros per person with tasting plates that are all very elaborate and well prepared. It would be a good restaurant to go out as a couple, with family or on special occasions like Christenings and Communions. Also for work dinners or dinner with friends. In terms of value for money I am going to give it a 4/5 because I think you pay for what you get, you pay to eat well. And if I had to give it a personal grade, taking the whole restaurant into account, it would have to be a 9/10. I think that it is one of my favourite restaurants in Valladolid.

Restaurant Jero

If there is one place your going to eat well in Valladolid, it's this restaurant. I have already told you about the bar and their tapas but the restaurant hold back It is in the same premises as the bar in the street Correos 11 and it is made up of small underground rooms. The layout grabs your attention so you wouldn't expect any less from the food.

I was only there once and I was sure it was going to be expensive but in Jero, everything is good, I especially remember the Brussels sprouts with jam, they even make sprouts luxurious. It is best to ask for a taste menu since you can try different dishes and it makes it less expensive than when you ask for the menu. I will tell you a little bit about what every dish they gave us consisted of, because I'm sure that if I don't tell you, you will have no idea what "transformed" is in appearance. Everything in this bar/restaurant is amazing.

If we talk about price, this is definitely quite an expensive place. I cannot give you an exact figure because when we went, I didn't pay. but I imagine that for 2, it wouldn't cost any less than 70-80 euros, taking into account the cost of a beer and a nibble at the bar. But it is these things that scratch your pocket because it is worth every last penny. Needless to say, Jero is a restaurant to celebrate special occasions in good company. I don't think that it is designed to hold a big Christening, Communion or Wedding, because it is very small and divided into rooms. I think that its ideal for a family dinner (4-5 people), but more than anything it is good for couples. The service is very good, fast and there is not one moment that you feel neglected by all the people there.

In terms of value for money, it is within the best and I think that it deserves a 5/5 because it made my mouth water too much, to think about the prices. And personally I am going to give it a 9/10 without anything eye-catching. A superb location in Valladolid.

Conclusion

After having spoke about some restaurants, I just want to tell you my opinion but you can always look up other views on the internet to compare. I think that you re looking at the level going up from a burger bar on Friday nights, to various quality restaurants like Suite 22 or Jero. Each one has its moment and its company but in all of them you will eat well and I think that you will like them. Besides that, if we continue looking for restaurants in Valladolid, we are going to get a kick but at the moment that is everything and those are the ones that I have visited. I hope they are to your taste.

Best wishes!
