Studying in Naples: UNINA
Is it always hard to be objective when you're rating your home university, but I'll try my best to show its pros and cons.
One of the oldest University of Europe and the oldest public non-religious university of the world, it was founded by the emperor Federico II in 1224. Its huge variety of faculties are split into different buildings all over the city but they're quite easy to reach, being not too far from the others.
After my experiences abroad I can say that the level of the classes is high. Cons? You don't have a wide choice of courses and classes are almost exclusively hold in Italian. So, if your Italian level is not good yet, evaluate the possibility of attending a language course before leaving.
As for the facilities, it depends on what faculty you're attending. The scientific ones are better equipped than the others, but compared to the high fees students pay, the offer isn't adequate.
Exams aren't easy to pass: professors are usually helpful and comprehensive when you're an Erasmus student (though we aren't not used of having many foreign students) but the amount of study required is quite a lot.
Classes are from October to December (for the winter semester) and from March to May (for the summer semester). Exams take place in January-February / June, July and September.
On the other hand, Naples is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Its views are breathtaking, the food is delicious (Have you ever heard of Pizza, babà, sfogliatella? ) and it is much more than what Tv shows.
Surely Naples isn't perfect, but like many big cities from all over the world. So, don't be judgemental and experience the city. Completely. Intensely. Fiercely.
I'm pretty sure you won't regret it.
