Why did you choose to go to Trieste, Italy?

It was actually the only Erasmus option in my course at my university.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

Three months. We received around 1178 euros in total.

What is the student lifestyle like in Trieste?

Since I only took part of an internship and not classes, I don't feel confortable answering this question.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Trieste to other students?

Definetely, without a doubt.

What is the food like?

I didn't go out to eat, we would always cook our own food at our house.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Trieste?

A little bit, not many people are open to rent a house for only three months, it's not easy to find a house for three people at the same time (me and both my friends that also went on Erasmus; specially being of different genders, in our case, two girls and one boy).

How much does it cost to live in Trieste?

We found it a little bit more expensive than Portugal, but we actually expected worse. We spent 200 € per month (per person) for the room, and around 150 € on expenses (food and things for the house, bus tickets... )

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Considering our period of Erasmus (from January to April), the language courses were not available for us (they started around March, when we were about to finish, so, it was not a good option for us). However, since italian sounds very similar to portuguese, we learnt the basics and communicated easily with everyone at the Hospital

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Trieste from your city?

By airplane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Trieste?

We didn't go to any party or club in particular, but a walk by the sea was one of our favourite!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Trieste?

We didn't go out to eat. Except ice creams, those were absolytely amazing! We particularly liked one close to the sea, quite near to a restaurant called Rosso Pomodoro, if I'm not mistaken.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The museums! Are a wonderful way to spend the day. On the first Sunday of every month, they are free.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Trieste in the future?

Trieste is near everything, plan some time to do some trips (and take time into planning them, you can find easy and cheap ways to go to many many places!).
