What is it like to live in Toulouse? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Toulouse is a great city to live. You feel so good living here, people are nice, food is excellent and this is the probably the best town to live for student! Indeed there are many parties and cultural events every week, you just need to know the good people to party with.

What is the student lifestyle like in Toulouse?

Toulouse was elected the best student town in France in 2012, and I can understand why! The cheap transportation, all the bars and restaurants, club and parties all the time, beautiful weather, street markets, cheap accommodation (for France).

How much does it cost to live in Toulouse?

Toulouse is a cheap city for accommodation for example in the (hyper) center of Toulouse you can easily find a student flat like 25m2 for 450 euros per month which is not expensive for the country we live in!

When you are a student the transport are really cheap also cause you can have a card TISSEO (which you can charge each month) and it will cost you only 10 euros per month for all the transportation in Toulouse (metro, bus, tram). Also this city is really good for bikes, you have like "velib toulouse" which are bikes you can pay with your blue card (the one you use for the metro) You can go on the website of TISSEO and charge your card for bikes. It's gonna cost you only 20euros for a year!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Toulouse? Is there any advice you can give?

I will not lie, with all the student in this town you need some time to find an accomodation. Try to avoid agencies and chose the websites for private rent Pap.fr or Leboncoin.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

South-West food is probably the most typical French food. You can find foie gras, good wine, and of course the famous cassoulet (it is really heavy but you have to try).

What places would you recommend visiting in Toulouse?

Les jacobins, les quais de la Daurade, Les Augustin, La cathédrale Saint Sernin, La rue du Taur, le quartier des Carmes, la Place du Capitole, Le jardin Japonais, le musée des Abattoirs....

Is it good to eat out in Toulouse? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Toulouse has got also a sort of Spanish culture so you can eat Tapas at any time and in almost all the bars. For typical food from south-west you can go to "Le rond de serviette" (which has unlimited foie gras for the entrance) or "Mon canard" (that has a got a good cassoulet).

Is the nightlife good in Toulouse? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is awesome!

You have nightlife for all the taste, rock (Snapper rock, connexion), latinos (El Dorado), clubbing (Zoom club, Trader bar... ), more alternative (Dynamo for concerts)

What advice would you give future students heading to Toulouse?

Good food, good party, good people... What else?
