What is it like to live in Toulouse? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I was born and live in Toulouse and I can say that it's an incredible city to study in, live in or just to visit. We call it the "pink city", because, originally, it was built from red bricks but, with time, they have faded to pink. Watching a sunset here is just magical!

What is the student lifestyle like in Toulouse?

Toulouse is the fourth largest city in France and all of the research centres that are concentrated here make it a festive and happy city. Lots of people speak Spanish and English, because students come here from all over the place.

How much does it cost to live in Toulouse?

It's all relative. Toulouse is cheaper than Paris, of course, but it depends where you live if it costs a lot to live here or not. I would suggest you go to the website www.numbeo.com, you can compare the prices in your home city to those in Toulouse.

Was it difficult to find accommodation in Toulouse? Can you give any advice?

It's not difficult to find accommodation since a lot of the people living here are only doing it on a temporary basis. You can find a shared flat easily (the most sociable option and the best way to save money). You can look on the website www.appartager.com or on www.chambrealouer.com.

What is the food like there? What are some of your favourite dishes?

Mmmm the food in France. Do I really need to tell you about it? I think it's the best kind of food in the world (without wanting to sound nationalistic)! I would recommend that you try all different kinds of pâté and, above all, the cassoulet, a speciality from Castelnaudary (a town 1h30 away from Toulouse).

Where would you recommend for a night out in Toulouse?

La Place Saint Pierre! You have to go there to get the party started. It's next to the river Garonne and it's a square with a dozen well priced bars and a great atmosphere.

Do you have any advice for future students in Toulouse?

If you decided to come and explore this city, you will not regret it!
