Japan... To enter into another world
The most populated city in the world, Tokyo.
Incredible, the 6 day experience in Tokyo and it's surroundings...
Tokyo is an incredible city in which the mix of a millennial culture and the latest and most advanced in the world was one of the things that surprised me the most - and all of this coexists perfectly.
Impressive skyscrapers and gardens and millennial temples coexist together... There is vegetation and parks everywhere. This gives a lot of life and a peacefulness to the city. The buildings are incredible. The most touristic zones such as Shibuya are full of glossy adverts in the skyscrapers, just like the typical Times Square image (New York).
As there is no space, the city is growing upwards as well as down below. Below Tokyo, there are many restaurants, shops, the metro and trains, etc., etc.
The parks with Buddhist temples were the parts of architecture and landscapes I liked the most, all filled with water with the typical colourful carps, many animals and vegetation... Little tea houses in the middle of a lake... It's incredible to walk down a street with millions of people, ending up in a park with so much peace and quiet.
The people in Tokyo are very polite, educated and pleasant. They form orderly queues for everything, thank you for everything you do, welcome and say goodbye to you with a bow and will never say anything to you in a bad way. This is how they are educated.
The gastronomy is special and different to the rest of the world. It's based on a lot of fish, rice, noodles, vegetable soups and tofu... I personally loved the experience because I'm crazy for raw fish. It's best to venture out to try different dishes every day, as well as different restaurants. The service couldn't be better and all the restaurants are very good and welcoming.
There are many party areas and a wide variety of clubs.
The transport is stupendous. The metro can seem difficult to begin with but you'll have mastered it within a day. There is no such thing as delays. They are super punctual. There is the metro, the high speed train and the JP... With top up card, you can use many of these public transports.
They say that Tokyo is the most expensive city in the world but truthfully it's not this for it's transport tickets, hotel prices and food. If you search well enough, they are very good.
I was greeted by a mild climate in December - cold, but mild.
