What is the student lifestyle like in Tokyo?

Classes are mainly lecture oriented. Students love to join off-class activities and to drink in Japanese pub or “izakaya”.

How much does it cost to live in Tokyo?

Private accommodation is quite expensive. I hope you find school dormitory.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Try ramen, udon noodles and sushi! Nice and cheap sushi is available everywhere. Also izakaya will offer you a large variety of dishes. Also plenty of food choice is available for vegetarians(rice, tofu and vegetables). But vegans should be careful because most dishes use fish soupstock.

What places would you recommend visiting in Tokyo?

Tokyo Skytree and Tokyo tower (although the entrance fee is bit expensive) and Asakusa. Also I recommend Ueno, which features various museums and nice park.

Is it good to eat out in Tokyo? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Cheap food is available. Reasonable Japanese fast food chain restaurant is everywhere (beef rice bowl, ramen, udon... )

Is the nightlife good in Tokyo? Where is good to go?

I guess so but not very sure. If you want to enjoy clubs and bars, visit Shibuya or Roppongi. But be careful.

What advice would you give future students heading to Tokyo?

Generally Japanese people are shy. If you learn very simple Japanese, everyone will be nicer to you! Tokyo is a very energetic city which keeps moving forward, so you will have stimulating experience.
