Why did you choose to go to Tartu, Estonia?

Basically the reason for choosing Estonia was that it is a Russian speaking area and also heard about the university's quality.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I spent 5 month in Tartu, got a scholarship of 300 EUR/month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Tartu?

You mainly get in to interaction with your Erasmus friends, as you are placed in the same dorm, so it's hard to get on well with Estonians. So prepare for a real international experience.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Tartu to other students?

Absolutely. The city is beautiful, everything is approachable easily. The weather can be depressing if you're coming from southern countries. The university is a top one in the region, I was satisfied with the teachers also.

What is the food like?

Well, Estonian cuisine is not something to talk much about, fish and all seafood is basic part of the diet. You can find any kind of restaurant and food in the city what is suitable for you.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Tartu?

No.

How much does it cost to live in Tartu?

With accomodation, food (and normal kind of eating), and party stuffs you can make it out of 400 -500 eur a month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yep, I've learnt Russian, but plenty of languages are available. Estonian is pretty hard, so there might be no point in studying it for a semester.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Tartu from your city?

From Budapest i chose a flight, it's the cheapest.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Tartu?

Club Tallinn, Atlantis, Rütlii street.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Tartu?

There's a damn good sushi place near the botanical garden, and also Dolce Vita, Meat Market are right choices.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

I wouldn't list it, plenty, explore it.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Tartu in the future?

Do not hesitate to come to Tartu!
