What is it like to live in Szeged? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I'd absolutely recommend it, the city is beautiful and not that big so you would feel crowded but you can always find some festival or event where you can meet your friends.

What is the student lifestyle like in Szeged?

Szeged is a university city, the downtown is full of students from September to May, but you won't be bored in summer neither.

How much does it cost to live in Szeged?

The prices are reasonable, apartment prices are quite high, but it is a trend now in Hungary, and compared to the capital the rent is much lower.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Szeged? Is there any advice you can give?

The sooner you start looking the better, I guess it is true to any city, but still. As a student you might want to move to the city centre, but you should look a bit further too, as you can get anywhere in the city in a short time, so there is no need to worry about the distance.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is the best in the world here! I cannot choose a favourite, you must try the traditional Hungarian dishes, you can get them in several places.

What places would you recommend visiting in Szeged?

Dóm cathedral , Széchenyi square, Stefánia, TIK, and the 3 pubs in front of it, the fountain which is playing music in Dugonics square, Reök palace, Lapos (riverside) and all the festivals nearby.

Is it good to eat out in Szeged? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are several places you can go, right now my favourite is Pipi Tér / Pipi Pont.

Is the nightlife good in Szeged? Where is good to go?

We have some pubs and disco, you should try Vár Söröző or DTK and continue the night in JATE or Retro. University students often meet in the 3 pubs in front of TIK (Nyugi, Pívó, Campus), but there are more fancy places like Spirit of Dokk

What advice would you give future students heading to Szeged?

Maybe you should prepare for the not-at-all punctual public transport, if you live in the outskirts like Szőreg or Tápé, but in the city where most accomodations are available usually it is not a problem.

Alltogether it is an amazing city, you will fall in love with. Come and join us in the city of sunlight!
