Cherry Blossom Street

I have read heaps of Manga so I am so obsessed with cherry blossoms. I used to think that the only place I can watch pinky cherry blossoms falling in a spring breeze is Japan which is thousand miles away. But wait, no, you can even find it in Stockholm for a short trip.

As I was living in Finland, it was so easy for me to get to Stockholm with incredible cheap price. I took a cruise of Viking line for 70 euros/cabin for 4 people. You'd leave from Helsinki, stay in the cruise liner for 1 night and have around 6 hours to visit Stockholm before heading back.

From the quay, you can ask the tourist information for a map and he'd tell you how to get to the Cherry Blossom Street by bus, but I walked that day because It was not that far. I remember that wandering along the riverside was interesting as well. You just need to head for the center, and the Kungsträdgården Park is so easy to find.

The best time to see cherry blossom is around March - April. I followed facebook page because people will post the photos of the flower in some certain times. When I saw them blooming enough, I decided to go. Please try to watch the weather forecast, because if you reach there after a heavy rain, the fairy scene has already gone.

The cherry trees are grown on both sides of the street, and when you are under these trees, you are surrounded by pinky pinky air, feeling like Alice in wonderland. The place is a bit crowded, though.

After watching this magnificent scene, I was starving to death and started to look for something to fill me up. Then we found a Thai-Asian buffet restaurant nearby which was called Pong Asian and located in Klara Tvärgränd 3 which is in walking distance. It was a bit expensive (16. 50 euro/person/buffet), but totally worth it. The food was mixed among Asian cuisines but it was delicious.

You can also get some tropical fruits and ice-cream after meal.

Then, after recharging, we wandered around the old town looking for some cute souvenirs and walking back to the cruise liner. 6 hours are not enough to see all the main tourist attractions in Stockholm, but for the cherry blossoms, a delicious meal and chill walking in the old town, it is more than enough!
