Livigno, Italy
Visiting Livigno
Livigno is a small village in the north of Italy. It is very crowded in both summer and winter seasons. You can travel to Livigno by train and bus. If you decide to use public transport, then you should choose the train or the bus. In my opinion, it is more convenient to move around using a private vehicle. Although Livigno is a small town, there are many cultural organizations, such as Gruppo folkloristico, a folk group.
In summer, you can enjoy many outdoor activities, such as hiking and cycling. Livigno is especially popular in the winter season because people go skiing. There are several ski schools. Cable cars, which start to operate in winter, will carry you to the very top of the mountains. You can find a lot of B&B at a reasonable price.
I have been in Livigno in both the summer and winter period. The beauty of this place is simply staggering. If you decide to visit Livigno in summer, then I would recommend you to go there during the early summer months (July), since the scenery is much more breathtaking. In Livigno there are plenty of shops and restaurants, which offer a variety of dishes at a reasonable price. Livigno is very famous for being a tax-free village. This means that the price of electrical devices, alcoholic beverages, fuel and lots of other stuff is lower than in other cities.
However, there is a little inconvenience: the local government has limited the number of articles that tourists can purchase. This restriction applies especially to alcohol and electrical devices.
Once I bought four bottles of alcohol in a shop in Livigno. I had to pay a tax for the additional amount of alcohol when we passed through the checkpoint at the boundary of Livigno.
My experience
When I visited Livigno in summer, I enjoyed many tasty foods and drinks. I took delight in nature early in the morning; I went for walks in the city and went climbing the mountains. When I finished climbing, I stopped for a rest at the top of the mountain and start admiring the beautiful landscape. I liked to go on picnics in the mountains with my friends. Villagers were very friendly and they did not hesitate to share with us the history of Livigno.
In the winter, I played many snow games. My friends and I were able to find a reasonable offer in a ski school to learn how to ski. It was an amazing experience. I am glad of a chance to have been there.
