What is it like to live in Shanghai? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in Shanghai is a great experience. This alive city offers you new things everyday. In Shanghai you can meet different people and find many interesting things. You can always get inspired and be passionate about life. You should spend some time in Shanghai if you can.

What is the student lifestyle like in Shanghai?

Well, I think the campus life is the same everywhere in China. However, in Shanghai you can have more chances to meet more respectable and knowledgeable professors and the university is more dynamic and tolerant. Also, the students have more chances to go to exhibitions, music festivals, all kinds of affairs, etc.

How much does it cost to live in Shanghai?

It's little more expensive than any other city in China. I think if you live in school dorm (which is really cheap for students), you need at least 3000 RMB for a month to live a relatively comfortable life.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Shanghai? Is there any advice you can give?

It's not difficult I think. You can use Internet to find everything basically.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is a little bit sweet in Shanghai but it's acceptable. My favorite dishes are spicy foods, like hot pot. In China, the least thing you need to worry about is food.

What places would you recommend visiting in Shanghai?

Well, usually people go to Nanjing Road, Yuyuan Garden, the Bund, Pudong, Jing'an Temple, etc.

Is it good to eat out in Shanghai? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

You can find many different restaurants in Shanghai. All the food you want to eat I think you can just find it here. However, I suggest you to try some Chinese food. Personally, I like to go to Xujiahui area and Tian Zi Fang to find a good place to eat.

Is the nightlife good in Shanghai? Where is good to go?

There are lots of bars and clubs in Shanghai. To be honest, I like bars rather than clubs. In Hengshan road there are many quite good bars, and in west Nanjing road you can find some clubs like Mint and Myst.

What advice would you give future students heading to Shanghai?

Just forget about all the stereotype you have about China. You may meet some different people and a lot of strange food, but just try it. You will find that Shanghai is an amazing city!
