What is it like to live in Setúbal? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

The city is close to the shore, it has the 'Sado' river. The downtown is very close to the beach. We have a beautiful mountain that is called 'Serra da Arrabida'. We have also a peninsula very closed to the main city that is called 'Troia' many tourists love going there. Places to shop are everywhere.

I would recommend it! Go when the weather is good to see our beautiful beaches. As for culture, we have many places where you could watch events: like music, art expositions, theater (etc). You could see those things in 'Forum Luiza Tody', 'Casa da Cultura', 'Casa da Baia'.

What is the student lifestyle like in Setúbal?

In Polytechnical Institute of Setubal (IPS in Portuguese), the school is organized, the teachers are very interested in students and helpful overall. The difficulty of lessons depends on courses you are taking.

How much does it cost to live in Setúbal?

Living prices not only in Setubal, but in Portugal overall are expensive. Although Setubal is not one of the most expensive cities, like for example Lisbon (because it's the capital and a tourists place).

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Setúbal? Is there any advice you can give?

I don't know how to judge this subject because I've never been in a situation of searching for accommodation. We have some hotels: Marisol (downtown), Novotel, Hotel Ibis, and many others.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Portugal is a very rich country in food customs and traditions.

If you come to Setubal you must try our fresh sardines!

And many more! but if you want to go to big clubs, better visit Lisbon, Montijo, Almada clubs, etc.

What advice would you give future students heading to Setúbal?

Enjoy the experience to the fullest!

Reach out to people, don't be afraid!

We are a little 'shy', but we are warm and accessible people in Portugal!
