What is the student lifestyle like in San Sebastian?

I spent my time there as an intern. Due to this I can't report much on student lifestyle.

How much does it cost to live in San Sebastian?

I believe the most expensive thing in San Sebastian is the accommodation. Other than that, if you're buying regional food and drink you can get good quality from anywhere from cheap to expensive.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in San Sebastian? Can you offer some advice to other students?

I would recommend the following sites for searching for an appropriate accommodation:

In addition I would recommend not renting directly in the city centre to save a bit on the rent (outside the centre its not as expensive). :)

What is the food like? Which are your favourite dishes?

The food is very good.

My favourite dish is a Plato Combinado = a mixture plate with meat, side dish and vegetables!

Can you eat out well in San Sebastian? Would you like to tell us your favourite restaurants?

  • My absolute favourite: Maiatza (in the old city centre)
  • Café Bar Mendi in Gros - I would recommend it heartily for Pinxto Pote
  • Sakona - best coffee in the city!
  • Kenji Sushi Bar (in the old city centre)
  • Topa Sukalderia (a mix of Mexico and the Basque Country)
  • Tsi Tao
  • ChinChin

Is the nightlife good in San Sebastian? Where is the best place to party?

Until now I've only visited:

  • Bataplan
  • GU
  • Old city centre

I recommend all three.

Mostly you start off in the old city centre with a few Pinxtos and then continue into Bataplan or GU!
