Erasmus experience in San Sebastian, Spain by Michelle
Why did you choose to go to San Sebastian, Spain?
I chose to go to San Sebastian because I had heard many stories about this beautiful city. I lived here for 4 months and all stories are true!
How is student life in San Sebastian?
Student life is good in San Sebastian. There are many events and life is not quite the same as in The Netherlands. In the nightlife, you will encounter people of all ages, but on Thursday you will see mostly students.
Would you recommend the city and the University of San Sebastian to other students?
Yes, it is a great, beautiful city. I studied at Tecnun Universidad de Navarra and I really liked it.
How is the food?
The food is delicious and affordable. Sometimes it is even cheaper to eat outside instead of cooking for yourself.
How long did it take you to find a room in San Sebastian?
It took a while because I wanted to find a good location, but finding a room can go faster when you have a good network.
How much does it cost to live in San Sebastian?
It is difficult to say something about prices since every individual has a different lifestyle. It is not a very cheap city, but my spending is comparable to the Netherlands.
How was the language? Did you study the language before you went? Are language courses available at the university?
I had never learned Spanish before. Most people here do not speak English. They are very friendly and always try to help you in Spanish, but I would recommend learning the basics of the language. At the university they offered a language course but I would go to Lacunza for a language course.
Wat is the cheapest way to travel to San Sebastian from your home?
I came by car, but I think it is cheaper to go by airplane.
