Why did you choose to go to Rouen, France?

I was really interested in the culture of a real French city and it's really close to the sea and to Paris.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

It was 5 months.

I got 2200 euros from Erasmus scholarship.

What is the student lifestyle like in Rouen?

It's calmer than in the big cities, but there are lots of great bars where you can hang out.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Rouen to other students?

Yes.

What is the food like?

Normandian food is the best!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Rouen?

No, I lived in the university dormitory.

How much does it cost to live in Rouen?

It depends on the needs of the student. Probably around 600-1000 euros per month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

French is never easy, but living among native speakers makes it easier.

Yes. There are lots of foreign language courses, and there are French language courses for Erasmus students.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Rouen from your city?

Hitchhiking! Or train, bus or aeroplane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Rouen?

If bar, I would say O'Kallaghans or Highlands, if you wanna dance, definitely Chester's.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Rouen?

No, I rarely went to restaurants. I always bought ingridients on the market or in shops and tried to make my own French meal.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Just take a walk in the city center where you can find the timber framed houses, the Seine, the Cathedral, the Gros Horloge, the City Hall and the Church of Saint Ouen.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Rouen in the future?

Taste every food, go walking in the city, go to the cinema, drink beer at bars, be open-minded, be free and live!
