Colosseum

  • Roma - the heart of Italy

I was in Rome for 3 days, the first day was for the Vatican, the second day to explore the Colosseum and the third day was wandering around the street and bought miscellaneous presents. I just had 10 month of Erasmus in Europe, so for me in order to have traveled more countries and cities in Europe, so when planning, I weighed it up, I would rather go to a city, to experience and explore slowly. It's more than just going out and taking a few places to get some achievement.

So every city I stayed there for 2 to 3 days, Paris alone is 7 days, Wien is for 5 days. Indeed, Rome has a lot to explore, and despite staying here for three days I still can not understand everything about the city's cultural history very well, just reading and going online to find out.

  • Preparations

After referring to the Colosseum experience for travelers, I decided to buy tickets from the previous day, because everyone said that waiting to arrive at the new ticket will have to queue for a long time, sometimes. I buy tickets online through the web and lose an additional $ 2 in advance, if I buy tickets at the counter, it will not cost the same, just like buying a ticket to see David statue in Florence. Although I had booked the tickets in advance, the next day I was careful about the Colloseum early in the morning. The center of Rome is not too big, so it only takes about 10 minutes to get to the arena.

Colosseum

At this time is 7am, think that the tourists are already queues packed, but it is surprising that only a few sporadic classes and a certain class of archeology or historical students go to reality. I have breakfast and sit back until 8am. New employees start selling tickets and welcome guests inside. So for those who have not had the experience to Rome, do not worry too much about queuing, every 8am if you are in the Colosseum, it is okay because guests queue is not very crowded. But it's hard to get into the arena when it's time to go to lunchtime.

Tourists come here with a lot of delegates, they usually have a tour guide (HDV) accompanied, there are also small groups of 2 to 5 people hired HDV. With a place that carries a lot of historical significance as well as a myriad mystery surrounding it like this Colosseum, the best condition is that you should have HDV because there is nothing better than having a guy take you away, tell you anecdotes and interesting stories related to souvenirs, landscapes, things that may take months or even months to learn are not sure and understandable.

For me, I have my own way of feeling, partly because I have no many money to spend on private tour guide, partly because I want to discover and enjoy myself. Very fast to get tickets and into the interior of the ancient Roman arena, I go deep into though this time is quite early and not many tourists. Designed with three very high floors and full of large square stones stacked on top of each other, the Colosseum is like an impregnable fortress.

  • The Symbol of Rome

The symbol of the city of Rome (Roma in Italian) was built around AD 70 and AD 72, the arena used for martial arts players competing and performing public. In addition to being used as a venue for martial artists, this place is also used for public performances, fake sea battles, hunting, classical drama. This work gradually led to the recreation of the Middle Ages. Later, the arena was used as a house, store, religion, and radio.

Stepping into the colosseum, I first felt cool, I was crawling through a small tunnel, where the boxers in the arena, climb up looking down. Imagine being in a fight between the gladiators, standing among the crowd, screaming out loud, throwing the loaves of bread down the ring, the sound of the horses and the tear of your guts. The wounded make the match more boiling. All of that was just for the fun of an emperor. I could not believe it.

I walked up to the second floor and stepped out of the stage. The large podium is arranged in the form of a large circular stadium with a ring in the middle, enough for an army to gather there. Standing here, you can imagine that you are enjoying a mortal battle as in the movie Gladiator fighters with the fighters and the fierce fighters are fighting each other, cheering cheers of the audience unceasingly. I walked around the arena a few rounds, to the second floor and back to the first floor.

More and more tourists are coming here, and a couple asked me to take pictures and then I had to meet and greet them four or five times because we went around all the time and meet again. In addition to the first and second floor, the Colosseum also has a basement for the boxers prepared before the tower. This place is very mysterious and fascinating, but it seems that only a few special delegations can visit here. Sometimes, when I'm tired, I stop, stand near a group of tourists trying to hear some information from their private travel tour guide, so I also could listen to what she's telling about some useful information, an interesting story about Colosseum already.

  • Ancient Rome

Wandering around at the end of the stage, I asked myself: "Uhm, maybe the arena is just that too?, buy a lot of money but just watching this is not so little! " It was too late in the afternoon, although still a little attached, but I still decided to go out. Before I came here, I thought that all this arena was going to take a whole day, not knowing that this vast and mysterious world in Rome was that I had gone all week without exploring. I only really discovered this when wandering outside the Colosseum area, saw people on a small hill and had a ticket counter.

This complex contains many of the remains of the ancient Roman period that survived, including the Roman Forum, more prominently because it was formerly the administrative center of the city, the thriving trade and commerce of the Roman Empire. Commercial development, they need large halls for trade, meeting and serving the needs of the people. Meanwhile, the Domus Aurea building was owned by the Roman Emperor Nero, built to serve the needs of this powerful king. There are also Trajan Columns, Trajan's Market, Catacombs, Massimo Stadium, Terme di Caracalla Public Baths, Augustus's Tomb, Ara Pacis, Costantino Arc de Triomphe.

I have to walk back and look at the inside for up to two hours but not yet satisfied but still have to step out because there are many other places waiting for us.

Then, I went to Platin and Circus Maximus, which was full of entertainment and entertainment place is only of emperors and his generals outside the Colosseum. The area was built with an oval structure not rounded like the Colosseum, 600 meters long, 150 meters wide with 375 thousand seats.

In my opinion, if you visit Rome, you will have to prepare a lot for your journey of discovery which is all about the history, passion for ancient Rome as well as religion and art. There are many interesting stories inside this vestiges complex, and it is as wide as if you were in an ancient city. My poetry moves from point to point on the highest hill to watching the entire population and then stopping occasionally at a foreign tour group trying to listen to the drunken narrator telling the story of the monument.

  • Rome -a typical Mediterranean City

Rome is still sunny, typical of the Mediterranean, clear in the blue sky and all the scenes and warm colors are full of emotions, although still feel very clear the cold in the shade. I'm still wandering in that heavenly paradise, lying on the green lawn and getting a good sleep when I'm tired, then walking again, if I'm thirsty, public water. The streets in Rome can be said to be quite as messy as the planning of housing here, but it still gives a strange sense of a once-enlightened city for all humanity. The specialty here is the tap water taken from underground water in the city is extremely clean and everyone can drink as normal mineral water.

Rome, the original Latin name is Roma. Actually in Italy people use Rome to refer to the ancient city (inner city), Rome to refer to the wider area around the citadel. History of Rome is also the history of Roman, the great civilization surrounding the Mediterranean.

  • The legend of Rome

The legend of Rome is a dark fairy tale influenced by Greek color, and Romans love it so much that it appears everywhere, not only in Rome but throughout Italy. When the Greeks attacked and destroyed Troy, a prince was Aeneas, the younger son of Anchises and the goddess Aphrodite, who brought his father, his wife and children, and especially the sacred statues of his ancestors. These people run to the Italian peninsula. Here he created his kingdom, based in Alba Longa, which inherited the glorious Trojans of the past.

The Aeneas dynasty passed 13 generations, to Numitor. Numid's brother Amulius robbed his throne, captive to his brother. Predictably that a child born to Numitor's daughter may overthrow him, the bandit forces Numitor's daughter, Rhea Silvia, to become a sacrificial shepherd, confined to keep the virginity in the temple.. But Princess Rhea Silvia was loved by the god Ares (war god, Latin name Mars) in the temple, should give birth to two sons. They are left in a basket to leave the field for dead. But the water of the Tiber River rises, carrying the basket to a shore of dust. And there, a female wolf gave the two siblings to grow up. One day a shepherd discovers two children in a wolf's cage, brought back and named them Romulus and Remus, raising them to adulthood. Amulius, in the sport of the city, found that this was not a shepherd's son, and asked in detail. The two brothers, after learning of their identity, have killed Amulius, freeing his mother and taking back his throne to his grandfather Numitor. Seeing his grandfather Alba Longa is too narrow, the two brothers have come to where they were the female wolf. nurture, build up your own city, ruled together. Romulus chose Palatine Hill to build the city, next to the Tiber River. When Romulus was building the wall, Remus's brother stepped over the wall. It is an ominous sign that the city will be invaded and collapsed. In anger, Romulus killed his brother, and became the only king. Romulus recruited all the wandering people, exiles, criminals, prisoners escaped..., to his land.

The city was named after him from Rome. Rhea Silvia became the Roman Mother, and Romulus also became the Roman Quirinus. Thus, the Romans assumed that their ancestors had a family name of the Ares War - which they called Mars, they Outside is the greatest king of Asia and the god of Aphrodite - which they call Venus. The year that Rome was erected, the same year Remus was killed was in 753 BC. From 753 BC, the birth year of Rome and Rome became the base year in Roman calendar systems, until the new year 46 BC was used. They used the Julian calendar later on.

  • Wolf and the Emperor

The wolf statue for Romulus and Remus suckled from Rome as a symbol of Rome and Rome colony cities. You can meet it in many places in Rome as well as in other cities in Italy.

Colosseum

For a time, the Roman arena was long forgotten and used as a source of building materials. Marbles used to build the facade and some of the interior areas of the Roman Forum were used to build the San Pietro Basilica and several other civilian buildings such as the Barberini. By the 18th century, when people began to pay attention to the relics of Rome, the Roman arena was noticed again.

Stepping out of the ancient Roman colony, I wandered in the sunshine on the banks of the Tiber. The river is not as famous as other big rivers such as the Seine in Paris or the Danube that flows through Budapest, Prague, but I'm much happier walking around here. In part because of the dense vegetation here, the bridges spanning not so many tourists, just sporadic painters, enough for a light afternoon.

  • "Hi, can you help me take a picture? "

Of course, I am always happy to accept the words like being taken frequently when I'm on the road, but I did not expect this photograph to be so different from other times. Despite being warned a lot and in this context with the strange man I had already conceived but I was completely off guard because too hastily and focused on taking pictures. Shoot for this guy finished, I turned to the next exposure without a doubt.

When I needed to take my clothes back to my bag, I did not see my filter camera bag. My soul recovered very well, but hopeless. Then, I remembered him; sure, it must be him with his accomplice who has stolen everything while I was shooting for him. Really bewildered because in that bag contains quite a lot of my camera accessories, I checked again to see if anything else lost.

But luckily, I just have lost the filters camera bag, I can still take photos with my camera. However, as I said, I have lost many things during my time travelling in Europe, in the next 3 months; I would lost my most precious thing in Seville.

I probably had an article about my camera lost in Seville!

some of my great photos with colosseum!
