WHATI WILL BE MISSING OF RIGA

My experience here in Riga is going to an end, indeed, in 20 days I will come back to Italy. I have been living in Riga since the beginning of March and, now that I get used to Latvian lifestyle, I know that I am going to miss it once I will be home!

Latvia and Italy are in Europe but they are really different: Italy is Italy and Latvia, for me, has been something completely unique to visit and love, too. A big river, an outstanding National Library, a historical district, funny people, cold and snow, sun and sand, wind, Latvian, Russian, French, Spanish and more!! Riga presents all the northern cities' characteristics and, since I had been able to travel over the North of Europe, believe me if I say that Riga is one of my favorites.

These are the main reasons why I will be missing this city! 

1- NO NEED OF TRANSPORT SERVICE

Ok maybe sometimes, but Riga has a really good urban city planning and so I never needed a subscription for public transport. In the main streets you can find any shop you need, any coffee you want and more, gym to go and the city is so nice if you want to walk to reach out your destination. However, when I will be home I will need my car to go everywhere, I will have to spend money for gas and I don't want to think about others!

2- CHEAP BEER

For me, this is one of the main problems, the beer! When I arrived in Riga, I wasn't so practice on beer but now I am! Currently, I am used to drink 0,5 L of beer for 3 euros when in Italy you can pay it 5 euros, at the supermarkets they sell really good beer for 1 euro here! I really would like this kind of beer's prices also in Italy! 

3- FREE WIFI EVERYWHERE 

I have always to check my sim in Italy and I spend a lot for internet, sms, and calls on my phone! In addition, my personal wifi doesn't work as fast as the one that I have here! I didn't need to buy any Latvian sim because I have wifi everywhere, at home, gym, restaurants, supermarket and in the square! And then I have the chance to really enjoy not being bothered by social networks or parents and friends chatting every time!

4- SUN UNTIL 11.30 PM

If winter here can be very "dark", in contrary, summer is very "sunny"! It's so strange when you go out in the night during weekend and see the sky still bright. And what about when it's 3 o'clock in the morning and the sun starts to rise! I mean in 4 hours you are able to enjoy both the sunset and the sunrise! I think this is amazing! 

5- SPEAK RUSSIAN AND THE INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENT

Of course Russian language is going to miss me very much! I came here with the aim to improve my Russian level and I really like the chance to speak it! In addition here I have found an international environment, so I am able to practise all the languages that I have studied in the previous years! But other than that, I love meeting people from all over the world and get to know different culture and traditions!

6- ECONOMIC TRAVELS 

Travel around the world is something that everybody loves but, unfortunately, not everybody can afford because as we know it can be expensive! Well, don't be afraid to travel inside the Baltic states since they are really economics! The cheapest way to travel here is by bus (with movies, coffee, music and more) and you can reach other main cities! 

I love Italy but I made a new home here, which is really going to miss me! I wish I had more days to spend here but time has passed and I am going to say goodbay Riga! See you soon!
