What is it like to live in Riga? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Riga, in a nutshell, is a small city with 10 km radius but the city is well developed according to that. and the city is very cheap to live in the apprx maximum cost incl food and rent will be around 400 euros if you don't share your room. the transport facility is very accurate and the cusine is okayish since people here like only mild food taste.

What is the student lifestyle like in Riga?

As a student I have never faced a trouble in this city, everything is accessible here and only youth people and some other class people know English here but if you had google translate then no problem with communicating with people. and the city is pretty decent where everyone minds their own business (in a positive way)

How much does it cost to live in Riga?

the cost are pretty less as compared to other countries with 400 euros approximate you can deal with all your basic expense like food and room etc and also there is a central market here so you can get things and food at a pretty cheap rate (btw the market closes before 6 pm) and moreover there are also many supermarkets here which are pretty accessible like Rimi, Maxima, Promo and narvessen etc..

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Riga? Is there any advice you can give?

no, it is not difficult to find accommodation here you can either book it in Erasmusu website or you can search in Facebook marketplace for accommodation but for the best, you can book it in Erasmusu website since it is a safe procedure (but at a cost of 100 euros as service fees) but if you don't care about safety you can go in Facebook marketplace.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

food isn't my priority here since Latvians don't like spicy food, They like just plain, tangy and some salty food. (for example in corporate fast-food chain like KFC you can feel a difference in eating in another country, and in Latvia, it tastes plain over here (its just an example)

What places would you recommend visiting in Riga?

Old Town, Jurmala, Mangalsala beach, Ventspils etc..

Is it good to eat out in Riga? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

You can try Lido restaurant since it is a premium restaurant and kebabs are good here hence you can find many kebab shops (but don't eat it a lot) and CHI restaurant etc are my priorities.

Is the nightlife good in Riga? Where is good to go?

Nightlife is pretty decent here but only at its peak in the old town at weekends.

What advice would you give future students heading to Riga?

There is nothing to worry about to live in Riga but don't keep your expectations high on coming here, its a quiet and a decent city where you cant find many tourist attractions and very blasting nightlife here, it is just a relaxing place (moreover I can say it can be a quite good place if you are so done with people and want a break from some crouded cities. Have a nice Erasmus study!
