Why did you choose to go to Riga, Latvia?
I chose Riga because the grant I was going to receive from my government was not enough to live in other country for 6 months.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
6 months with 700€.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Riga to other students?
Yes, Riga is a beautiful city and a good place for to start your studies.
What is the food like?
I don't really like the food since the food of Riga is very different from Spanish gastronomy. In Spain, we have rich and varied food.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Riga?
10 days. I was living in a hostel.
How much does it cost to live in Riga?
It depends. In my opinion, the apartments are very cheap, but the supermarkets are expensive.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Latvian is a very difficult language, but it isn't a problem because here all people speak in English. Moreover My university has a Latvian course free.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Riga from your city?
Bus and tram.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Riga?
Old Town.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Riga?
Lido, Charlie, Il Patio, Ala...
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Museum of War.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Riga in the future?
When you come here, go to Spanish Embassy.
