Trip to Iceland IV

On our penultimate day, we went towards Reykavik, but after having visited it before, we wondered what was left to see in the area. The same night before leaving the capital, we discovered a place that we could visit, the Hvíta river. This river is white and comes from the previously mentioned Gulfoss waterfall. It's one of the most intriguing places I have ever visited and I really liked it because of its landscape. The air there was so calm and peaceful. There was absolutely NO-ONE, just us, and I loved being there alone, without being completely suffocated by tourists. We could understand the solitude of the short road, as there was nothing more than potholes and it was very narrow, which is why only some buses can get to this point. But this place is really worth a visit.

On the way to Reykjavik we had to make an obligatory stop. The national Thingvellir park (Þingvellir en Islandés). This is the point where the North American and European tectonic plates meet. It's honestly very pretty, but I had seen some photos that didn't really do the place justice, which is why I can say I was a little bit apprehensive. Even so I liked it, although I expected something else.

After this, we went straight to Reykjavik. It was quite a long trip, and even longer with trying to find accommodation. But we arrived.

After dropping off our things, we went for a walk about the city that was nearly in darkness, and we began to get to know the Icelandic capital. The truth is that we didn't really walk through the streets much as we were quite tired after all our days travelling, as we were driving the whole time... more or less for 5 hours, or more.

The next day we had to return the car at the airport before 8pm. Therefore, in the morning, we took another trip around Reykjavik, this time properly. We visited loads of places of interest such as the famous church (I have to say, the photos make it look a lottttttt bigger) and the port.

After passing through the city, and saw that a Museum of Penis' also exists... we went on towards the famous Blue Lagoon. This place has natural thermal pools that they say cures psoriasis... who knows if this is true, but it's a must see. It's true that it's expensive but it's good to be able to relax after your whole trip. You can have fun and spend a while doing the face masks that they offer there, and with the sauna, the jet streams, the bar (stupidly expensive)... It makes for a good time. When we left, we returned the token that we had to carry with us whilst we were inside and we paid for everything we had in there, a drink and face mask.

After all this, with my very dry hair from the lagoon (and months later, it's still like that :( ), we went to the airport to drop off the car.

And here comes the happy ending... the man who owned the car rental arrived late, and then we had to pay €200 for a scratch that was ALREADY on the car. But thanks to one of my friends, who posted a terrible review about them on TripAdvisor, they begged us to remove the post and they gave us the money back. So, as a piece of advice, if something seems bad to you, express it publicly and they might compensate you!

We slept in the airport overnight, which was actually really fun. We then left for Copenhagen with a nearly 3 hour delay. But oh well! It was an UNBEATABLE trip and I would do it again 101 times over.
