Why did you choose to go to Reykjavík, Iceland?

I'm studyig geology, so it is the perfect place to be. Great landscapes and nature.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship is 5 months long and I receive 300 euros per month from the Erasmus program.

What is the student lifestyle like in Reykjavík?

It is very nice, there are a lot of Erasmus students that want to meet new people and have fun. There are a lot of pubs downtown.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Reykjavík to other students?

Yes, I would!

What is the food like?

The food is expensive. However, if you go to Bonus supermarket the prices are affordable. There also some restaurants with Icelandic food that are quite good.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Reykjavík?

No, the University of Iceland provided me different web pages to look at.

How much does it cost to live in Reykjavík?

The minimum cost for renting a room is 500 euros per month if you share it, so if you want a room for yourself it easily increases to 600-700 euros.

The cost of food is not that bad if you go to the supermarket and you do a smart shopping. Maybe 200 euros per month.

The public transport is not as good as in other European cities, and it is expensive too. However, you can buy an student card valid for six months for 230 euros.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Icelandic is a difficult language. The university offers you Icelandic courses. Nevertheless, everyone speaks English.

The easiest and most economical way to travel to Reykjavík from my city is by plane.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

I'd recommend visiting:

  • Iceland National Museum
  • Downtown
  • Sun Voyager
