Start into the Second Adventure
The excitement before the adventure
In February I received the positive answer about my internship application at Tenerife. That was during my time in France and I was so excited! So during the following 5 months I was trying to find out as much as possible about my second destination this year. Puerto de la Cruz is a small city in the North of the island (but anyway with a population of 30 000 people which is quite a lot for Canary Islands) with a lot of tourism. So I was searching pictures, Facebook groups, forums - everything. Of course, that even increased my excitement about it.
Saying goodbye again
So, after 6 weeks in Germany in June/July the 24 of July was THE DAY. It was my flight to Tenerife. The start into my second Erasmus adventure. Even if I have already lived abroad now for 5 months I was still very excited because I didn't know what I could expect from my stay there. Saying goodbye was as hard as always, even if my boyfriend (actually a new one - you will see the story in my France blog soon) could not be there to say goodbye. But for me it was even farer away because you could not just get into the car and drive home if there was something very bad happening. It's an island and you can only get there and get home by plane. But as I was really looking forward to that adventure as well, it was okay.
Arrival in Tenerife
After 4,5 hours in the plane (I didn't have any longer flight so far, so I was actually really overthinking my idea of going to Australia... ) I arrived at the Southern airport of Tenerife. First challenge was to find the public bus station and figure out how to get to my city in the north. Fortunately it was quite easy and there were a lot of other German people who assured me that it was the right bus. So I had to wait 1,5 hours (under a palm tree, in the sun - not too bad) and then passed about 2 hours in the bus.
Second challenge - find the hotel and get there with all the luggage. Thank got there is Google Maps, so I already knew the way to the hotel (even if I started my way in the wrong direction for about 10 minutes... ) but it was really, really exhausting with the suitcases. The streets are not that great and there are so many little mountains within the city that it's not funny to go with two suitcases and a backpack. But finally I arrived at the hotel I booked for the first 10 days and got into my room. I took a shower and went to the supermarket nearby (fortunately opened all the time because of the tourists) and got something to eat. After I was alive again I went to the beach which was only 100 metres away from the hotel. It was quite strange to see a black beach but I loved it - the air, the sea, the waves. It was so beautiful! And I could not really realize that I would stay there for 6 months now.
