Finding a job II

So my last two days were crazy. I managed to have six interviews or meetings in two days! I am getting tired of looking for a job and I already agreed on another two meetings on Monday in case everything goes badly. Firstly I am gonna tell you about the longest interview I have ever had.

On Tuesday morning I was invited to the first round of admission process to Red Bull to apply for a position – Finance Administrator. There should have been one round before my state exams but nobody was available so they had to postpone it. The night before I noticed they have the headquarters in Dejvice, so I was happy to sleep later as I live in Dejvice. In the morning I was surprised because though it was supposed to be close to my place I had to walk, use tram, use bus and walk again. On my way there I was even considering going back because the path looked horrible. I was walking through the forest and it looked like the end of the world. When I finally found the right place another four girls were alredy waiting there because of the same reason.

I already knew that the assessment centre should last four hours so I was prepared for it. What a nice surprise that they prepared for us fruit, biscuits, salty snacks and we had unlimited red bull drinks. I do not drink it often as it is unhealthy but I exceptionally took one. They even order four pizzas at the restaurant for us as a lunch! To start we had to draw our flag of love. I did not like it much. I think that we are already adults and there is no need to draw anything before you speak about it. Never mind, I created my flag and I was talking about all the things I like. Everybody looked interested. I was proud of myself because thanks to the fact I am active all the time, I had a lot of things I experienced to mention such as being aupair, travelling to Sri Lanka, studying in France, having an internship, etc.

Later we had to choose an animal that depicted us precisely. I also did not like it much because when people apply to work as a finance administrator I don´t assume that they should be creative and I have no idea what they tested. I chose a cat anyway with reasoning that she is cuddly which means I like being surrounded by people and she is active and playful which means I like trying new activities. I wanted to choose an elephant as I liked them much in Sri Lanka but I did not want to compare myself to an elephant, so I preferred cat. The other girls did not think like me as one of them chose an hippopotamus. I would feel even offended if someone compared me to an hippopotamus.

After a quick break we continued with describing our characteristics and saying examples that prove it. I said I am:

  • Responsible;
  • Eager to learn new things;
  • Talented with quantitative skills;
  • Careful;
  • Hard-working.

I did not find this activity interesting either because everybody can say whatever they want to and nobody knows if it is the truth. Even more boring was when we had to enumerate characteristics of perfect Finance Administrator and agree on three main characteristics. I felt like being at school. After the break we had tests - finally. I was surprised that they tested us because they were speaking about the importance of team and brand Red Bull all the time and we assumed that the best Finance Administrator is just a friendly person with good team skills according to them and that´s all.

The test from English was all right. It was a test with multiple choices and despite the fact I do not like grammar exercises, it went well and I had just three mistakes. The test for carefulness was really easy but it was time limited so I did not manage to do it perfectly. The worse thing was the accountancy test for me because I still do not have idea how to do it at all. Lastly, we had an Excel test and it was quite easy, but I was angry that there were people who accomplished it before me. Either they did not control it or they were just faster which means better. I may not be an Excel expert as I thought.

After four hours I heard that we had to stay longer than we agreed before because they needed a break to choose people who go further and the rest would go home. I could not believe it. They were acting like they were choosing a person for financial manager or managing director. Instead of 30 minutes of discussions they came after one hour! They sent one girl home and three of us stayed. I was happy to stay but I already had another meeting after so I wanted to go first for a personal interview. They asked me about everything! They even asked me if I liked going to parties because they organize a lot of them often! I did not know what to think about it. I really liked the idea of working at their company as a finance administrator as I could learn many new things but I do not know why they spent half of the day choosing the right person. I think they already knew everything they needed according to the tests! I left the place around 2:15 pm with five Red Bulls and they promised to let us know during following days. It was the longest interview ever - 5 hours.

After this experience I had a meeting because of a job in Croatia. I felt full of contradictions. I wanted to go there so bad as I would earn some money and I would have amazing experience on the boat. Although I was worried I could feel sick on the boat and more important was that the job was suspicious. They just uploaded an advertisiment without agency and they described it in three sentences. They offered to me that I have transport myself to Croatia on my own and they will cover all expenses connected with tranportation, insurance and accommodation. If I was sure it was no cheat I would go for sure. Nevertheless, I did not find anybody who could drive me there and I was too scared to go alone...

Later I participated in experiment organized by CERGE. I was so unhappy when I found out it is a two day experiment and you are rewarded the second day. So I went there for nothing because the other day I would be already in Hradec. Today in the morning I received a phone call from Red Bull. They announced me to be happy so I thought I was accepted but they decided to organize third round of admission process! Can you understand? After all we have been through I am supposed to have a presentation with the topic: Being a finance administrator in Red Bull!

Same day I was so excited about having a trial in the Cuban bar La Bodeguita as a waitress at 7 pm. I was nervous because it was the job I cared about the most. When I entered the bar I was amazed. I expected something really similar to La Casa Blu. It was kind of similar but huge and more complicated! They have two people at the entrance as a security and one girl who is in charge of seating guests. I did not expect that. I was also surprised that waitresses have to wear a special dress with a short skirt and no shoulder strap. The worse thing is wearing heels for 10 hours! Except for this they have a lot of rooms with a lot of waitresses and with three bartenders and huge kitchen full of people. It was crazy but everything had its system. In the beginning I could not imagine working there because carrying three plates or holding a tray with 8 mojitos is a matter of course. Although I liked the bar a lot. Cocktails looked amazing and they even have live music and dancing performance every day!

Later, I decided to finally come to La Casa Blu to see all of my friends! It was so nice. They were complaining with me how unfair it is I can´t work there anymore and I was happy to see everybody after long time. I ended up my night at Lucy´s place because I always promise to sleep there but I never do it. So finally I did it and at least we had more time to talk. In the morning I headed to Provinent to have the second round of admission. I felt confident in Excel as I already had two classes at the university and I was working a lot in Excel during my last internship. I found out I was mistaken. The test was not easy at all or I forgot most of the things I knew so I have worries about my acceptance... I feel like I will go crazy soon. This madness about job finding continues and on Monday I have an interview in Mexican restaurant Las Adelitas and trial in the café. I hope I am gonna find my dream summer job soon!

Provinent is close to Budejovicka metro station so it was perfect opportunity to see my aunt Moni! We have not seen each other for a long time so we had a lot of things to talk about! We met at our favourite restaurant where we always go – Primo Piatto. It is an Italian restaurant with two floors. There is also a small place for children to play. Sometimes it is quite busy during lunch, so it is better to come earlier. Everyday they have lunch menu where you can use from at least five meals. Meals are interesting such as salad with melon or interesting desserts. Normally we have soup or a small salad, after main dish and after dessert with coffee. That´s the dream lunch haha. I chose tortellini with prosciutto as a main dish and hot pineapple with caramel as a dessert. It was delicious as always. We were talking about everything what happened and I was surprised how big my cousin was! Time goes by so fast.

Moni also told me they are going to Corsica for three weeks and after they plan some trips in August. When I heard it I would immediately go as well. I would love to see Corsica. I was checking the tickets from France when I was there but it was super expensive so I forgot about it. I was also interested in narration about Mexico because Moni spent there a whole year of studying! Actually she told me she did not study there much. She preferred travelling there. It was even worse when I noticed they offer special tickets from Milan to Mexico Cityso cheaply! Although I should be patient and I will go for sure one day.

I am finally at home and I can enjoy it. I thought I could have time for exercising, movies, cleaning my room but my coordinator swamped me with work because we agreed on writing a report about my bachelor thesis. The funny thing is that when I was choosing European cities I just randomly chose five cities without consideration. Later, when I had to explain my reasons why I wanted to examine these cities I chose it was hard because I had no motivation. In the end there are news in media about Madrid and Berlin in connection with bans and short-time accommodation which is perfect in view of the fact I included these cities in my regression! I am gonna start soon working on it.

My next plans is trying Vacutherm for the second time tomorrow and going go see my father and grandmother after whole semester! I am taking there my sister and hopefully we are going to the outdoor swimming pool. The worse thing is that I need to choose a present for my father first. During the weekend we are organizing celebration bachelor party in Hradec Králové with Lucy. We chose the restaurant Na Hrade for it. I hope I will see all of my friends from Hradec.

I almost forgot to mention that today we went to the cinema to see Now you see me 2. I was looking forward to this movie for a long time! I liked the first part a lot. In general, I like these kinds of movies. This one was amazing as I expected. The story was totally unpredictable, maybe too much complicated that I did not even understand all of things. I was amazed by perfectly implemented scenes with appropriate music and attractive actors. In the beginning of the movie we could see Jesse Eisenberg who is famous for his Social Network. I would say that as the time passes he looks more attractive. My favourite actor in this movie is Mark Ruffalo who plays one of the main character. I would like to mention amazing magic tricks and effects that added curiosity to the movie. I did not mind that most of the effects looked unrealistic as it is integral to the movie. In addition, the main scene was played in London that I love without doubts. I am eager to watch again the first part of Now you see me again!
