Experience in Poznan, Poland by Michalina
What is it like to live in Poznan? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
If you do not know which city to visit in Poland while you are on Erasmus, Poznań should be your first choice because you can find a place to get some information, eat, and drink, especially on the main square. the architecture is beautiful as it is a mix of some modern and old architecture styles. If you want a small get away from the fast paced city, go to the ZOO or even commute by train to Kórnik where you can find a nice, small palace with a garden to rest in.
What is the student lifestyle like in Poznan?
It is easy to find everything which you need at affordable prices.
How much does it cost to live in Poznan?
That depends on the standard of living. You can find some unexpensive accomodation, especially if you are willing to share a room. If you cook at home, then groceries are not that expensive, again depends on which store you go grocery shopping to. You can dine in the city to places where you pay for the amount of food you order, not the dish itself, so it is a cheap and delicious option. Commuting can cost you around 40-50zł per month, cheaper if you get your PEKA card and buy a student's semester ticket. There are a lot of students discounts, so no worries.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Poznan? Is there any advice you can give?
No, it is not.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
As mentioned above.
Is the nightlife good in Poznan? Where is good to go?
Plenty of bars and pubs around the main square.
