Experience in Poznań, Poland by Marta

What is Poznań like to live in? Would you recommend it? What's it like?

It's a student city, and as a result there are a lot of friendly people who want to enjoy themselves. To have fun, it's worth going into the center of Poznań, where there is always something interesting happening and where you can find many bars and clubs. The city is quite small, with old buildings, parks and the main square filled with colour and lots of places to hang out.

How much does it cost to live in Poznań?

About 600 zlotys a month for accommodation. 1500 zlotys will get you high quality life.

How was finding accommodation in Poznań? Do you have any advice?

It's no more difficult that in other cities. I don't recommend the University residences. There are others such as Sofa, Poco Loco or Polonez which are not very cheap, but are of good quality. You can also find a flat, but be sure to start looking early, for example before the holidays.

In summary: a lot of soup, a lot of flour, fat and potatoes. There are lots of fast food outlets. My favourite dish is chicken stew. I also like the crêpes.

Express Kuchnia Marché or Green Way.

What places would you recommend for a night out in Poznań?

For Erasmus students, the best club is Cuba Libre. Also Czekolada, Słodownia, SQ and Czarna Owca. If you really want to make the most of it, go to the main square or Piwko Naprzeciwko, Basilium or Chmielnik. Oh, and also visit Pijalnia Wódki i Piwa.
