What is it like to live in Poznan? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

In my opinion, Poznan is the most open city for foreigners in Poland. The city is full of parks and some lakes - it's not a concrete jungle.
Poznan also has a lot of attractions, for example The Old Market with two goats, Citadel Park. The weather is various, sometimes you need a warm jacket but on the next day, you can go only wearing a hoodie.

What is the student lifestyle like in Poznan?

Poznan has a lot of pubs, bars, clubs and cafés which has Student Discount if you show them your student ID. Also, there are some events especially for Erasmus students (ESN UAM does events on Facebook, so you can check it). And, when the exam season is coming, our library is opened until midnight.

How much does it cost to live in Poznan?

I think you can find cheap, polish dinner for only 12PLN (€ 2,82).
One pass ticket for a tram/bus is for 2,30PLN -half price ticket (€ 0,54).
A semester ticket for Zone A (Poznań only) costs 155PLN (€ 36,42).
Bread ~2,50PLN (€ 0,59)
Beer ~3PLN in supermarket(€ 0,70) ~5PLN in Pub,Bar (€ 1,17)
Coffee ~5PLN in cafes (€ 1,17) (not Starbucks ;))

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Poznan? Is there any advice you can give?

I can recommend several websites where you can find a room / flat.
But If you want to live in a dormitory, please check the website of my university - there you will find information and contact with people who organize this.
Advice - always check the description of the room/flat - There may be additional fees, for example for electricity.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

To be honest, food is various. Of course the polish cuisine - the cheapest one if you find "MILK BAR" - "BAR MLECZNY" in polish.
But you can also eat anything - sushi, steak, burgers, pizza, thai food and more.
My favourite polish dishes are ŁAZANKI and PIEROGI RUSKIE :)

What places would you recommend visiting in Poznan?

1. Old Market and seeing goats at midday.
2. Citadel Park
3. Lake Malta
4. New and Old ZOO
5. Półwiejska Street with Stary Browar

Is it good to eat out in Poznan? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

1.Bar Jeżycki - Milk Bar in Jeżyce district - cheap dinner
2.Pasibus - burgers in Posnania shopping center
3."U Przyjaciół" ("At friends" in English) small, cosy cafe

Is the nightlife good in Poznan? Where is good to go?

Anywhere with ESN UAM - events for Erasmus students.

What advice would you give future students heading to Poznan?

Don't be afraid - polish people don't bite ;) a lot of us know English.
