What is it like to live in Poznan? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Yes! I like this city sooo much! I recommend everyone who is thinking about going on "Erasmus" to consider this city! It is beautiful, cheap and you have very near other cities and countries (Germany)

What is the student lifestyle like in Poznan?

I have to say that my erasmus was not party, drink and all these things everyday! I had to go to class, doing homeworks, exams and everything the other polish students did. So, it is not so easy and given as other people say. But I have no complaint because there I finished my degree!

How much does it cost to live in Poznan?

For spanish people (or anyone with the euro currency) it is very cheap because of the exchange rate. So, it is another reason to go there.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Poznan? Is there any advice you can give?

For me, it was very difficult, because I had no place at the residence, so I had to search for a flat with 3 mates, and it was difficult because lot of people didn´t want erasmus student living in their flats, or they were very small for we all, also some people wanted to take advantage of that we were erasmus, and so on... But finally, we find a place and we had a great time.

I have to say, that it was thanks to my mate mentor, who was a great girl.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I didn´t like polish food so much and I cooked my food as in Spain. However, there was one thing I liked a lot: pierogi! but sweet pierogi, delicious!

What places would you recommend visiting in Poznan?

It is a very nice city! I visited everything.

On the old town, The Cathedral, the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, the Grand Theatre, the "Lubranski Academy", the Opera House, the "Genius Loci Archeological Park", the former Imperial Castle, which is now one of Poznań's premier cultural-theatrical institutions....

On the other side, one of the most interesting places in Poznań is Malta with an artificial lake in its center. On one bank of the lake there are ski and sleigh slopes (Malta Ski), on the opposite bank a huge complex of swimming pools including an olympic-size one (Termy Maltanskie).

Moreover, on the 11th of November, Poznanians celebrate The Day of St. Marcin, where a procession of horses, with St. Marcin at the head, parades along St Marcin Street, in front of The Imperial Castle.

And for those who enjoy the sport, the city's new municipal stadium

Is it good to eat out in Poznan? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I remember a place called "Piccolo" where I have eaten the best spaghetti ever! and I like so much "zapiekanka", a polish halved baguette or bread topped mainly with mushrooms and cheese, also ham or other types of meat, and vegetables, very tasty!

But I really don´t know, because when we ate out we went to McDonald, Pizza Hut and places like these.

Is the nightlife good in Poznan? Where is good to go?

There are lot of places to go, but our "favorite" one was "Cubalibre" where was spanish or latin music, so there went a lot of spanish people and a lot of erasmus! But there were a lot of places maybe no so "famous" but very nice!

What advice would you give future students heading to Poznan?

To enjoy the experience!
