What is it like to live in Poznan? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in this city is quite convenient. The tram and bus system is working pretty well and there a a number of different lines, which can take you to every district of Poznań. In terms of entertainment, there a variety of places where you can have a good time (there're many cinemas, pubs, clubs, bars, swimming pools etc.), so generally you can't be bored here! Poznań is a beautiful city especially in spring and summer when a lot of outdoor activities is offered, e.g. tours around the city, volleyball tournaments, open-air concerts etc.

It depends where you live. If you rent a signle room in a block of flats then it costs you around 700 zł per month + water/gass/electric bills. If you share a room with another person, then it's much cheaper, around 450 zł per month + bills. The price is also influenced by the district where a flat is located. It's sometimes cheaper to live in some hall of residence of local universities.

I don't think it's difficult because there're many websites, which help you to find a perfect place to stay (dom.gratka.pl, gumtree.pl, tablica.pl, szybko.pl etc).

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food here is delicious but it depends what do you like to eat. Poznań offers a wide range of fast-food bars or restaurants, where you can taste both traditional Polish dishes as well as dishes from different parts of the world (Asian, Italian, Mexican cuisine). If you're in Poznań then you have to taste "pyry z gzikiem" which is a traditional local dish. I also recommend pierogi.

What places would you recommend visiting in Poznan?

I recommend visiting Old Market Square, Town Hall, Parish Church of St. Stanislaus, Imperial District (the Castle, Moniuszko Great Theatre, Collegium Maius, Collegium Minus, Ostrów Tumski, Malta Lake, Municipal Stadium, Cytadela, ZOO, Botanical Gardens, Stary Browar.

Generally speaking, there're many places where you can eat delicious dishes but the prices are different in each spot and sometimes they significantly differ.

Is the nightlife good in Poznan? Where is good to go?

The nightlife here is generally good, there's always something interesting going on in the centre of the city regardless of day of week. The market square is always crowded with people at the weekends. If you want to just grab a beer and chat with your friends, then I suggest going to such pubs as Dragon, Meskalina, Pijalnia Wódki etc, but when you want to go out on a party, then check clubs like Czekolada, Cuba Libre, SQ, Słodownia.

Don't be discouraged by possible problems which you may encounter at the beginning of your stay in Poznań, everything will go in the right direction when you accommodate yourself to this city!
