Why did you choose to go to Poznan, Poland?

I wanted to experience a different educational system. At my Faculty of Social Science we had a guest lecture from Adam Mickiewicz University (Faculty of Social Sciences) and I really liked the way of teaching and the fact that all the students are involved during the lectures.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

In my case I could only stay for 5 months. It depends mostly on your home University. In some cases you can prolonge your staying.

What is the student lifestyle like in Poznan?

When it comes to parties you can always find something interesting around. It's desingned for all the tastes. You can choose from rock, jazz bars and the list continues with latino dance clubs and karaoke.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Poznan to other students?

Yes. After a few months you will definitely change your study habits in a good sense, you will feel more confident do deliver presentations in lectures and your writing skills will improve.

What is the food like?

You have a lot of options to choose from. There are several supermarkets such as Lidl, Carrefour, Kaufland, Auchan, Biedronka and mostly for takeaway snacks Żabka.

Regarding traditional food they have a lot of interesting soups and of course a must to put on your food list the "pierogi".

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Poznan?

Well the Erasmus students get a student dorm and the prices vary. You need to apply for one and the prices and listed from the beginning.

How much does it cost to live in Poznan?

Depends on how much you are spending. Food is not expensive. For instance lunch at self service is around 25-30 zl. You can get also student discounts if you have your student card with you.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is not really easy but you can always learn the basics to get around. The Univeristy offers language courses. I got enrolled and at the end of it I was able to read, write and speak.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Poznan from your city?

I went by plane from Bucharest to Warsaw and after that I took Flixbus from Warsaw to Poznan.

Other friends of mine chose to travel from Berlin to Poznan by bus. It's really close to Germany.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Poznan?

To karaoke of course to Pijalnia.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Poznan?

I really liked the following places: Weranda Caffe, Manekin.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The Malta Lake, there is even an artifical slope, the Old Market Square.
