Why did you choose to go to Poznan, Poland?

I chose to study in Poznan as the facilities in the University of the Arts Poznan has great facilities for my art processes. There is a high level of performance and theatre here and at least 3 art exhibitions per week. It is also cheap for living costs and so I didn't need to find a part-time job.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My Erasmus placement is for 3 months and I received 770 Euro from my home university to help with costs.

What is the student lifestyle like in Poznan?

Lots of students and student offers in bars and nightclubs.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Poznan to other students?

I would recommend UAP for art students as there are plenty of facilities (18 drawing and painting studios to choose from) There is a professor and an assistant in every studio to help. The city has lots of mixed architecture due to it's rich history and nice abandoned buildings for an artist to explore.

What is the food like?

I am a vegetarian and the vegetarian places are great but regular restaurants do not usually have a veggie option. If you want brands or western European foods there is: Alma and Piotr i Pawel to shop in.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Poznan?

No, I found accommodation on Erasmusu and contacted the landlord directly.

How much does it cost to live in Poznan?

My rent of a private room plus bills costs approx 200 euros per month but dorms are much cheaper if you don't mind sharing sleeping space (because most of the room are for two or three persons) . About 400euro per month is average for living then. To eat out costs approx 5-8 euros per person depending on where you go. A beer is approx 2 euros.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is difficult but most young people speak English. I just learned the basics for shopping etc.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Poznan from your city?

Plane and bus.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Poznan?

Za Kulisami and Klub Dragon.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Poznan?

Mixtura for veggie burgers, Radha Vege for Indian food and Falla for falafel.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Fort VII - Small prison camp where the Nazi's held Polish people.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Poznan in the future?

It's cheap here, the people are quite friendly- made some good Polish friends along with International students. There is a rich nightlife here, especially at the weekend.
