Are you going to Portugal? Whether you're up to a trip with your family and friends or you're about to do an Erasmus experience, you need to get by with transports. A journey imples airflights, taxi, bus and every possible means of transportation.

Don't fret, you're in the right place! Here you can find some tips about a mobility in Portugal: how to get around, be familiar with transportation and be able to choose the best and affordable means.

You'll probably take a plane to come in Portugal. There are two airports in Lisboa Lisbona-Portel Airoport a) and Faro ( Francisco Sá Carneiro airport ). If your destination is one of the latters, there's no problem. The metro's stop is right outside the airport, get on and head off downtown.

However, if your destinantion is Coimbra, Evora, Braga... you'd better keep reading this article for some advice. But first I'd like to suggest you to download some useful apps, which will help you to get in and out of the city. Here in the picture, I show you mine.

Travelling by train

As first, I'd suggest you to travel by train.

Here is Coimbra's train station.

The Portuguese national railway service is managed by the public company Comboios de Portugal, basically our BritRail. I think, it's the best solution for a confortable trip. Ticket's costs are quite high, wheter from Lisboa or Faro, but people under 25 years are entlited to get a discount. A reduction will be applied whether you buy the ticket online or at the station. It goes without saying you have to show your Identity Card while you're buying or while the inspector checks your tickets. Make sure you don't get smart! I storngly recommend you to download Comboios de Portugal app from your mobile's playstore.

This application allows you to buy tickets, check timetables and itineraries, or be updated with possible changings or delays; above all you don't have to print the hard copy or be careful to not loose it.
