What is it like to live in Porto? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Porto it is a very nice and very cheap city! You must live in Trindade, that's the centre where it is the mian metro station, City Hall, the Aliados Avenue, some Universities, bars, cafes and clubs.

Pay attention that in Porto the houses are very cold during the winter! Portuguese tipycal apartments dont have central eating, so you must be inside the apartment with jacket.

What is the student lifestyle like in Porto?

Very nice with lots of parties! Where you can drink for 0,50euros for a beer ( Bar espaco 77 in Travessa de Cedofeita ).

How much does it cost to live in Porto?

Very cheap! A bedroom for rent it is around 200-250euros per month, and supermarkets and nightlife is very cheap!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Porto? Is there any advice you can give?

No, it is not dificult! You have many websites for rent places! You can stay for the first nights in Hostels until you find the perfect place to stay; I sugest Mim Hostel, it is central, cheap and nice. It is located in Trindade. You can sleep there for 12euros per night.

Dont stay near Hospital de Sao Joao where it is located the most universities; it is a boring and ugly neigborhood, The metro of Porto run very easy to Hospital de Sao Joao. www.metrodoporto.pt

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is very cheap and tasty! You must eat the typical Porto dishe-Francesinha.

Sardinhas and Bacalhau are very tipycal plates.

The cafes are 0,60euro, the cakes are 0,65euro.

You have daily menus for 4euros ( soap, plate & drink ).

Try eat in the restaurant Casa Paraiso in Rua do Paraiso, near Lapa Church.

What places would you recommend visiting in Porto?

Serralves museaum, Casa da Musica, Mercado do Bolhao, Centro Comercial Bombarda in Rua de Miguel Bombarda it is a trendy hot spot, also Artes in Partes in Rua do Rosario.

Is it good to eat out in Porto? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

You can eat out in Porto for a few euros.

Casa Paraiso in Rua do Paraiso.

Cafe Ryan in Rua de Cedofeita.

Pimenta Rosa in Centro Comercial Bombarda in Rua de Miguel Bombarda,

Cunha restaurant in Rua de Guedes de Azevedo it is an amazing place from the 70's where you can eat the best Francesinha of Porto.

For vegetarians you can eat in Espaco Maus Habitos in Rua de Passos Manuel in front of Coliseu do Porto where you can have a fantastic view from the centre.

Is the nightlife good in Porto? Where is good to go?

You must go to Cafe Vitoria in Rua Jose Falcao, it is a trendy cafe bar with a nice terrace and it is not expensive. You can go to the nice Candelabro, it is a bar with a nice terrace in Largo de Mompilher.

Plano B it is a nice club in Rua de Candido dos Reis, every night with different music and also with good DJs.

And for the lovers of electronic music you must go to Passos Manuel ( the bar inside Coliseu do Porto ). The most trendy-arty athmosphere.

What advice would you give future students heading to Porto?

I suggest to stay as longer as possible in Porto. I suggest doing daily train trips to small and nice cities around Porto, like Braga, Guimaraes, Vila do Conde, Povoa de Varzim.

The train tickets are around 4euros for a trip go and back.
