What is it like to live in Porto? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It’s like any other big city, chaotic but also amazing. I highly recommend because people are so interesting and nice.

What is the student lifestyle like in Porto?

I’d say pretty average, although you have several places to study outside the campus which is really good. There’s also a lot of activities that occur through the school year which is really good and nightlife is also very present.

How much does it cost to live in Porto?

I can’t give a fair answer to this, except for the fact that living costs have increased.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Porto? Is there any advice you can give?

It has become more difficult due to the increasing rents, which are not sustainable to students from some place including other location from Portugal. My best advice would be to look for residences first and then contact the student association to find out if there are available places to rent and what they are asking for them.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Porto has gone diverse in food, so you can find pretty much all types of cuisine. As for typical food it‘s amazing you should try our Francesinha, Tripas à moda do Porto e bolinhos de bacalhau (Codfish cakes)

What places would you recommend visiting in Porto?

Pretty much all the historical buildings and Serralves. And also Jardim das Virtudes which has an incredible view over the river. Also, the river side is a place you cannot unsee.

What advice would you give future students heading to Porto?

Don’t be afraid to ask locals for help, people usually try their best to help, even if they don’t speak your language.
