Experience in Porto, Portugal by Carolina
What is it like to live in Porto? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
It’s having a small town feel but with most amenities nearby. There’s a lot of old people, more than young people, but it’s a nice city.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Porto? Is there any advice you can give?
A little bit, should look for it in advance.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Very fatty but very good. Francesinhas, anything with codfish (bacalhau com broas is amazing), Porto wine.
What places would you recommend visiting in Porto?
Downtown (Baixa) is quite small so there’s a lot of time to visit most attractions. If you’re into modern stuff, Porto is not for you.
Is it good to eat out in Porto? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
It’s cheap and usually good, but not many options are open until late outside of the weekend.
Is the nightlife good in Porto? Where is good to go?
It’s nice although same thing every weekend. There’s two bar streets in Galerias do Paris that have clubs and bars, but there’s other spots that are good, depends on your preference.
What advice would you give future students heading to Porto?
Less people speak English than you think, if you’re ever in doubt of where you are just figure out where the river is and you’ll find your way.

Welcome
