Why did you choose to go to Porto, Portugal?

I chose Porto, because I could come and go quickly and for cheap by plane and by road.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

5 months... I don't remember about the money, but I think that I got €500 for Erasmus.

What is the student lifestyle like in Porto?

My Erasmus was 4 years ago... but there were loads of student from all over the world.

Would you recommend the city and the university of Porto to other students?

Yes, I would recommend it.

What is the food like there?

The food is really good! And it's cheap too!

Was it difficult to find accommodation in Porto?

I found my accommodation in 3 days. But I don't think that it's hard. It depends how you go about looking.

How much does it cost to live in Porto?

It's not too expensive if you bear in mind that it's a big city.

I paid €200 for a room plus bills (+€50).

And the travel pass for the bus/metro costs €15a month.

You can get a SIM card for free if you're Erasmus. And there are also some good messages and calls deals for free.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is pretty easy for Spanish people, since Portuguese is pretty similar to Spanish.

Yes, I went on a 30 hour course, but the best way to learn is to hang out with people from Portugal.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Porto from your home city?

There are some low cost flights to get there.

Where would you recommend for a night out in Porto?

It's been a while since I was there, and it also depends on your personal taste.

But the piolho square is good (to drink in the street) and it's cheap.

On Monday, Ribeira (next to the river) and if you like Latin music: Movida beach, they serve free drinks for girls on Tuesdays and Fridays.

And to eat in Porto? What are some of your favourite places to go?

To eat, the most important thing is to eat francesinha. It's really good!

I couldn't tell you any actual places to go, but there is a lot of variety of places in the shopping centres.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The Serralves museum is beautiful. The centre of the old town. Matosinhos beach is very pretty in general.
