Why did you choose to go to Porto, Portugal?
I could only choose between Germany, Slovakia and Portugal. Since I am from Poland, Portugal looked as the best option to get far away from home.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
3 months. I had to take about additional 300-400 euro on my own.
What is the student lifestyle like in Porto?
I dont know, i am a nerd.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Porto to other students?
I wasn't at the university, i was on internships so i can't speak about UoP. But I really strong recommend the city. I was in Lisboa too on one-day trip and I am happy that i choose Porto instead of Lisboa. Landscape is great, Douro river looks... wonderful at night. People are friendly.
What is the food like?
They eat a loot of meat and fish unfortunately. But there is one place great place near Ribeiria where you can eat vegan food. Its called Casa da Horta.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Porto?
No. I found accomodation via Internet. It wasn't easy but if you spend some weeks you can find nice and cheap place.
How much does it cost to live in Porto?
200 euro for accomodoation (expenses included) and 100-150 euro food. You may want to buy monthly pass on Metro, it will cost you about 25-30 euro. If u want to party you must consider additional 100 euro per month.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Language is kinda similiar to english. But through 3 months I only learned some words and a few sentences.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Porto from your city?
Airplanes.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Porto?
Computer and heroes 3.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Porto?
Casa da Horta !
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
A lot. You should check castle near Ponte Luis bridge designed by Eiffel. There is also Wine museum, Cathedra, tower in the city centre, Aliados, two nice parks and a lot more
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Porto in the future?
There is no advice. Maybe check on google translate some basic words and sentences, it could help you in the beginning here.
