Erasmus Experience in Porto, Portugal by Jure

Why did you choose to go to Porto, Portugal?

My friend was in Porto one year before we decided to go on Erasmus. And he said only good things about Porto. That's why the choice was easy for me.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I got 300€ per month. But amount was in two pieces, first I got 80% of all amount and when I get back to Slovenia I got the others 20%.

What is the student lifestyle like in Porto?

I really loved it! Peoples are nice and parties are the best!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Porto to other students?

Of course.

What is the food like?

Food is very good. Especially I loved Franchesinha!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Porto?

No

How much does it cost to live in Porto?

For me is not much different than in Slovenia. Prices are almost the same. 200€ was accommodation and around 200-300€ was food and other things.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Language is not that difficult. Yes they are and we have language courses two time's per week.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Porto from your city?

The best way is with low-cost plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Porto?

I would recommended Ribeira, 77 bar and More club!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Porto?

I don't remember name's but you can find very good restaurant in center and in Ribeira.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

In Porto there are a lot of cultural sites. Most of them are in center.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Porto in the future?

It's really worth it to go for Erasmus exchange to Porto!!!
