Why did you choose to go to Porto, Portugal?

Language, culture

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

460 euro/month, for five months

What is the student lifestyle like in Porto?

Very good

Would you recommend the city and the University of Porto to other students?

Yes

What is the food like?

Food is very good, although a lot of meat and pastry is eaten, so it is a little bit hard for vegetarians. It is also not the most healthy food. On the other hand, for some people, it may seem unusual the amount of rice Portuguese people eat (rice every day, almost at every meal).

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Porto?

On the internet, on a specialized website

How much does it cost to live in Porto?

600 - 700 euro/ months... you can spend less if you don't travel too much and are really careful with money, or more if you would like to travel to Portugal or abroad + shopping clothes etc.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?

I have learned the language, but that was easy because I already spoke Spanish. I did take a 4-month course at UP

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Porto from your city?

Low-cost airline companies (WizzAir, Ryanair)

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Porto?

Places on Rua Paris

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Porto?

A lot of small cheap places to eat, depends on where you live

Vasco DaGama, McDonalds, Sushi places

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Casa da Musica, Torre dos Clerigos, museums, Palacio de Cristal (park and museum) and definitely Palacio da Bolsa (really beautiful)

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Porto?

Definitely get a public transport pass, and go to at least a concert in Casa da Musica! One thing I regret not doing is visiting villages/rural area in the northern part of the country.
