What is it like to live in Porto? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Porto is very beautiful, calm and clean city. It attracts tourists due to its famous places such as Dom Luís I Bridge, Clérigos Church, São Bento railway station, Casa da Música, Cais da Ribeira, Arrábida Bridge, Chapel of Souls, Tram museum in old electricity station, Rotunda da Boavista, Porto Cálem, Port Wine Museum etc etc. I will recommend to visit Porto and to see these attractive and unique places. The city looks like a symbol of ascent architect and design which gives a great pleasure to visitors and compel people to think about the art of old people and history behind every place.

How much does it cost to live in Porto?

Well Porto is really cheap and low cost city you can easily spend per month if you have just round about 800 Euros or if you are economical you can just spend 600 Euros, including all living, traveling and accommodation expenses.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Porto? Is there any advice you can give?

I think it's not difficult to find out private accommodation to live in Porto, but for the university accommodation sometimes it takes time to book. But all types of private hostels and residence of your required level are available according to the price and luxurious demands. If you are from any other country I will suggest you all to live in International Student Residence e. g S. JOSÉ DE CLUNY etc to get involved international activities and to get more good relations with other international students as well as to know other nations.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

About food it depends on your taste. As I am Asian and I love spicy foods. It is little bit funny that i can't compromise taste but in Porto food is really good and i love traditional sweets like desserts, cakes and pastries specially on some occasions like Christmas etc. I love to eat arroz doce, a lemon and cinnamon-flavoured rice pudding, and sweet yellow cake rich with eggs and milk.

Is it good to eat out in Porto? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes of course for food lovers there are a lots of choices to eat out and food is really good, healthy and cheap also. famous places for this are Camafeu, Pedro Lemos Restaurante, Tapabento S.Bento, All In Porto etc. But for me i don't have good experience for meat at all because i am Muslim and i did't try even. But if some students are Muslim they can enjoy food out in halal restaurants which are near city center e. g Istanbul Kebab, Estambul Doner Kebap, Sabores do Sebouth Sirian food, Asian Kebab etc.

Is the nightlife good in Porto? Where is good to go?

Well of course night life for people to get rid of all tiring day activities is important. I usually prefer to visit at night to river side and bridge of to go out with friends to take coffee. In Porto night clubs and restaurants are good but as being Muslim i don't have any such experience of night out with wine. But if there are any important celebrations like Christmas celebrations with amazing fire works, festival Sao Jao etc that i really enjoy at night.

What advice would you give future students heading to Porto?

I will give a good advice that make good friends and try to be friends with international students to get knowledge of other nations, their culture, language and foods. Secondly i will recommend to live pure and healthy life. Just focus on your goals and aims don't waste your time in unnecessary activities. Be careful about the reputation of your country because the name of your country comes first, don't forget that you are the representative of your country.
