Currently the city is pretty crowded with tourists and students. If you are an introvert it will be hard at times, but there are some quiet places. Actually the city has a place for everyone. Overall most of the people are young and outgoing.
What is the student lifestyle like in Plovdiv?
It's easier to be a student in Plovdiv. You get lots of discounts at discos, clubs, the cinema, etc. It's easy to get a job if you want to, but it's harder to find a place to stay.
How much does it cost to live in Plovdiv?
If you don't have your own place and like to eat healthy it could be pretty expensive.
Of course, you can save some money if you decide to share a room, they cost about 80-150 lev per month.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Plovdiv? Is there any advice you can give?
Well since the city is pretty crowded it's difficult, but not impossible. There are at least 3 websites, but I would recommend to get in touch with someone who lives in Plovdiv and speaks Bulgarian.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Well, you can find almost everything when it comes to food - pizza, Chinese, Bulgarian food and ofc fast food - KFC, Burger King, McDonald's, Subway. There are cheap restaurants, expensive ones.
I personally prefer to cook my own meals, but sometimes I get either a pizza slice or a fruit.
What places would you recommend visiting in Plovdiv?
Every famous place there is. The experience is different at each one of the places.
Is it good to eat out in Plovdiv? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
As a Bulgarian student, it's expensive for me to eat out, but my two favorite places are:
Is the nightlife good in Plovdiv? Where is good to go?
I've heard it's good. I don't like going out that much, but I can tell for sure that there are enough clubs to choose from.
What advice would you give future students heading to Plovdiv?
- Be careful with the alcohol.
- You can drink the water from the sink, but I wouldn't recommend it.
- We have 4 seasons, so make sure to be prepared for each one of them. They can occur in one week, following each other
- The only public transport there is are the buses, you can check when the next bus will come, but most of the time they are late. It's faster and easier to walk.
